Razzies and Other Brickbats

Last night the Razzies (the counter 'Oscars') were given out ...... this years worst film and 'Golden Raspberry Award' winner was the $320m (£200m) grossing global box office hit 'The Last Airbender'  .... a movie I will never see so I can't comment on its worthiness or not, but its a vote by 657 voters in 18 countries, so its likely to be a fair result.

Just out of curiosity I have compiled a 'Best' and 'Worst' movies list to see if any movie was both the worst and the best of any year ......

...... sadly no.

Jobs For The Girls

In the week in which there have been yet more calls to give women quota jobs (i.e. jobs which they haven't earned on merit or skill), on company directors boards "because they are a minority group"  (oddly women outnumber men in the UK, and have done so for decades, with only 0.98 men for each woman which makes men the minority group - but hey, why let a fact ruin 'wimmin' mythology), the BBC are about to give a platform to one of these architects of the 'anti white male' apartheid movement.

Ms Smith the ex New Labour Home Secretary has apparently suggested recently that those who 'hounded her out of office' over her misuse of MP's expenses claims, were actually doing so out of sexism ..... not because she was doing anything wrong ..... laughable.

Would You Pay For Porn?
'Jaqui Spliff', as she was mockingly called in some quarters, has been paid licence payers money to air her views on pornography on BBC radio five. This is not only a disgraceful misuse of public funds, in allowing this individual to to kick-start her 'broadcasting career', at public expense (as if as an MP she hasn't had enough of those? .... including 'Porno tapes' for her husbands use - Hmm good manners, decency, and slander laws, prevents me making an obvious comment), but also suggests to me that the BBC is still harbouring the "New Labour" vision of the world which 'Wimmin' want .....

Kiss Of The Spider Man

Sticking with the Gaddafi theme ...... he's kept interesting company over the years as these pictures illustrate ....

Gaddafi and Berlesconi share a peck

Blair and Gaddafi have a hug

Gaddafi and Putin share much in common?
Then there was the Tyrants Tea Table ......
Gaddafi with Ex-Tunisian president Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali,
with Morocco's King Mohammed VI and
the 'current' Algerian president, Abdelaziz Bouteflika,

Pot Hole Britain

When the inhabitant of PC Towers was a stripling, the school maps still had bits coloured in red, that had once been part of 'the Empire', and my how we used to laugh at 'Johnny foreigner's potholed roads'

We Used To Laugh At Third World Potholes
We Used To Laugh At Third World Potholes

.... we used to equate the third world with 'broken tarmac.'

Gaddafi Not Funny Any More

Colonel Gaddafi has been the subject of much ridicule on this blog over the years, but we here at PC Towers think its fair to say that the joke has worn thin now and that the time for mocking is over ....

Gaddafi in fur hat in Tripoli's Greeen Square this week.
"A Tyrant is always just a Tyrant", no matter what the stupid outfit, or the ridiculous pronouncements they make.

Gaddafi and his murderous henchmen and family have been exposed for what they really always were ... red in tooth and claw murderers.

"St Bono" Oversteps the Mark

When "Band Aid" turned Geldoff and Bono into 'Saints' they suddenly found that they could make pronouncements and Western Governments hopped around trying the accomodate these musicians 'political' views, no matter how one sided those politics were.

This sort of sycophantic adulation can turn any mans head, and I guess Bono can be as easily turned as anyone else cos he's decided that singing songs about killing other people is OK (in context) ..... specifically he's caused outrage amongst White and Liberal South Africans, by trying to justify the singing of the Black African struggle song "Shoot The Boer" at ANC rallies, as like his signing of Irish rebel songs. "When I was a kid and I'd sing songs I remember my uncles singing... rebel songs about the early days of the Irish Republican Army." and that  "We sang this and it's fair to say it's folk music," he told a South African newspaper.

The song was recently sung by ANC "Youth Leader" Julius Malema during his birthday speech , and which is now subject to a court battle as to whether its hate speech under the South African constitution.

Here a copy of the lyrics that I found on the web ... apparently transcribed and translated from the Times's online audio of Malema's birthday speech.

Now I don't know about you Bono, but I don't think these are quite the same as the lyrics to "The Boys of the Old Brigade" are they?

Love Doesn't Make The World Go Round

Valentine's Day is a celebration of 'Romantic Love' ....it can be between any couple (or even a chance to express secret love), and not necessarily 'married couples' ..... and this is a problem in societies where 'Romantic Love'  is considered a sin.

So its hardly a real surprise when Malaya (which is a majority Muslim country), announced that celebration of romantic love was "not suitable" for Muslims, and that in support of this decision some Malaysian states are planning to carry out checks on hotels, to stop young Muslim couples having premarital sex .... there must be thousands, err hundreds, err one or two of them.

As usual this anti western stance can be traced back to a Mullah issuing a "Fatwa" in 2005 - and that's that. One unelected mans bigotry, and its suddenly 'moral' and 'state law' for millions. This is how 'democracy' works under 'sharia law' ..... one man, one vote, and its the mullah who has them.

By the way, whatever happened to that 'cultural globalisation' or 'cultural multiculturalism' that we get rammed down our throats in the West, when its a 'Muslim' country that's rejecting foreign cultures?

Corruption Stops Sumo Tournament

Talking of corruption and fatboys, as I have over the last few weeks then it was interesting to note that even that most 'honourable' of people, the Japanese, have found that betting money and sport just lead to one thing ...... corruption.

Sumo Scandal - Heads Bowed In Shame?
Heads Bowed In Shame?

That most Japanese of sports, Sumo, has been racked by a scandal of such consequence that its caused the major tournament, known as the "grand tournament" to be cancelled for the first time since 1946 (when Tokyo's main stadium was being renovated - possibly by American aerial renovators).

History Vindicates King Eric

Do you remember this?

King Eric Disciplining An Errant Crystal Palace Fan
King Eric Disciplining An Errant Crystal Palace Fan

It happened in January 1995 when "King Eric" Cantona was verbally abused by a Crystal Palace fan called Matthew Simmons, just after he had been sent off for kicking a Crystal Palace Defender Richard Shaw.

Blobby Britain

It appears that Britain is the new European home of the "Fat Bastard" ..... we used to be able to laugh at the Americans, who for some decades were far and away the fattest nation on Earth ....

Fat American Children - Poster Shamed
Fat American Children - Body Shamed?

..... but not anymore.
