Modest Politician?

Now by its very nature, politics is not the home of modest people  ....

.... quite the opposite in fact (as we see with Donald Trump). 

Normally its practised by people of very limited talent (and intellectual abilities), who wouldn't be allowed to make meaningful decisions in any business (apart from some public sector jobs), but who think that they are in fact incredibly clever.

So its strange when a modest politician appears in any election .... but in 2023, when 40 year old Damion 'Bud' Green ran for a city council seat in Rainier, Washington State on the Pacific Coast he was indeed one such strange beast.

Because on election day, he chose not to vote for himself "I didn't feel comfortable. I thought it was kind of narcissistic, so I didn't." ... but he paid a heavy price for his modesty ... he lost the seat by one vote!

    Ironically the message this story sends to would be politicians is that being modest is a career buster.
