Crime Town

When I read this story I thought .... 'now there's a surprise' .... not.

Apparently, according to figures released by the Health and Social Care Information Centre (another quango?): 'Scousers' (as residents of the port city of Liverpool in England are 'affectionately' known in some quarters), are up to five times more likely to to end up in hospital following a physical assault, than any other British city dwellers.

'Scouse Gits' as TV Often Portrays The Residents Of Liverpool...

The reports figured showed that there were 13 Accident and Emergency hospital admissions per 10,000 residents, after a physical attack in the Merseyside area last year. In all there were 134,000 assaults in Liverpool last year.

This compares with an average nationally of just 5.2 per 10,000 residents in England nationally, and 5.5 per 10,000 residents in London. At the lower end of this scale, there were just 2.3 per 10,000 residents in the Thames Valley area.

Mind you, on the bright side, these figures actually represent a drop in the chances of assault in Liverpool, as the figure for the year before was much higher at 146,000 assaults .... the Department of Health called this drop 'encouraging', whereas I call it laughable ..... but I guess every drop in crime has to start somewhere, even for a group who describe themselves as scallies.

    1. I'm sure it is ... I don't live there, so can't comment other than to say that the hospital figures are checkable on the Internet, and made for a post.

      Thanks for the comment.
