When you read that a man named Leonard Robinson died in a traffic accident in Hagerstown, Maryland, USA, in August 2015, it probably made little impression on you, if you noticed it at all. However it was the death of a remarkable and kind hearted man.
His alter ego was as the "Route 29 Batman" .... who gained this name after the police stopped him for having invalid number plates on his pimped up sports car.
...... only for the police to suddenly realise the humour of having pulled Batman up. They let him off when he said that he was on his way to cheer up children on the cancer ward of a local hospital. The patrol car camera recorded the whole event, and a video of the incident went viral when police released it.
The Batman impersonator was Mr Leonard Robinson, who had been doing this for a number of years, and had spent the last 14 years visiting sick children in hospital and handing out Batman paraphernalia in full superhero dress. He later sold his commercial cleaning business to help fund his "Batmobile" - a black Lamborghini and he also drove a replica of the car from the 1960's Batman TV show, which he went on to use to visit children in hospitals across the country.
In all, this kind hearted man was reported to have spent more than $25,000 (£16,000), of his own money, on Batman toys, T-shirts and books to give to children.
When asked he said simply "I'm just doing it for the kids."
As good an epitaph as anyone could have .....

It's nice to have that dash-cam footage explained having seen it a few times and thinking that the guy was just a bit loony.
