George Mendonsa and Greta Zimmer Friedman .... Iconic Photograph |
No?
Well they are not a celebrity couple, but the were part of one of the Western worlds iconic moments, caught on a camera.
The Famous Kiss in Time Square 1945. |
George Mendonsa and Greta Zimmer Friedman were swept up in the euphoria of being in New York City's Times Square at the end of World War II in 1945, when Germany surrendered. Sadly Mrs Friedman died aged 92 recently. She only found out about the pictures existence in the 1960's when she saw it in a book by photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt.
Despite recent attempts by pc warriors to rewrite historical events, and portray as it some sort of public sexual assault, the supposed 'victim' saw it differently. "It wasn't much of a kiss. It was just somebody celebrating. It wasn't a romantic event." .... Mr Mendonsa later married the lady just visible smiling over his right shoulder. She was his actual date on that day.
It's evolution . . .
