Does Tesco sell tent dresses?
I ask because they run a series of adverts featuring Ruth Jones .... an actress who gained fame in the TV show
Gavin and Stacey. She had been slim'ish in the past, when she was once a normal looking size.

Ruth Jones - She Has Seen Slimmer Days |
But she wasn't exactly slim in that TV show ...... so perhaps its no surprise that she ain't slim now, as well as gaining fame, she also gained a few pounds in weight.

Baggy Clothing And Hiding Behind Shopping Trolleys - Only Covers So Much Hips .... |
So over the years she has really started
packin the timber, and its increasingly difficult for the advertising film director and cameraman to hide this fact .... they have now resorted to showing her usually from the waist up, or behind strategically placed furniture. The latest TV advert shows her face on
(which flattens her), and in the usual baggy jumper, but she's still twice the size of the actor who has played her husband over the years. The directors cut can't hide this .....

Nothing Can Hide The Double Chins ........ |
Some might commend the supermarket for not using slim or skinny actresses, and so resisting
size fascism, but on the other hand this is no longer a normal healthy weight woman. So you have to wonder what sort of subliminal health messages the supermarket are trying to give out with these adverts?
- Eating their food piles on the pounds?
- Being fat is normal?
- Unhealthy people shop at their supermarket?
- Letting yourself go is acceptable?
- Fat is the new slim?
- Fat chic?
Its hard to work out the logic being applied ..... we live in an increasingly
Blobby Britain, and indeed a
Lardy World, but surely we shouldn't be celebrating this fact, or treating it as an
unfortunate illness like cancer?

Every Kilogram Helps Sales? |
Oh and the tent question? Well if she carries on piling on the weight, then she'll be wearing a tent dress in the next advert ..... in the meantime stately as a galleon she sails across our screens.
