Recently I mentioned that robot sex was already on the horizon. Well in Italy, the world second robot doll brothel was opened, and then very shortly closed.
It was only allowed to open in the first place after giving assurances that the highest standards of deep cleaning would be used on the dolls ....
Needless to say standards were soon alleged to have slipped, and to quote the crude phrase, 'sloppy seconds' were being dished out.
Health inspectors checked 'Lumidolls' latest bordello in Turin (They had one in Barcelona which was forced to find a new location after the building's landlord cancelled the lease, but the one in Moscow is still running), after allegations that the deep clean promised on the website had not been undertaken. This promise states that the dolls are "properly disinfected with special antibacterial soaps", before and after each service. Visitors are actually urged to use a condom. Hygiene authorities are now carrying out an investigation to see if the firm’s doll cleaning met all standards.
Its closure was also for alleged infringements of Italian property law, after checks showed it was not legally allowed to run hospitality on the premises .... this is also disputed.
For myself and most people, I suspect Robot Sex just seems perverted, weird, downright scary, or simply emasculating.

As you say, it's not for everyone. In the future though, will we be able to tell the difference?
