My Kinda Town ....

Someone decided that making a bottle of vodka worth $1.3 million made from silver, gold and diamonds was a good idea.

More Money Than Sense

Apparently it was to “woo Russian royalty, tycoons, and wealthy aficionados worldwide,” .... why is not clear to anyone who is not 'Russian royalty, tycoons, and wealthy aficionados', but there you are.

Anyway on New Years day 2018, it was stolen from the Café 33 bar in Copenhagen Denmark, where the Russo-Baltique bottle was on loan to a Danish collector, and it was presumed that it was gone forever.

Vodka Thief ....

However it appears that the thief was merely a drunkard, because a few days later the bottle turned up on a building site .... empty but undamaged. The club owner said that all they had to do was refill it, and it had lost no value. I suspect that there was a petty thief somewhere in Denmark who was feeling pretty sick that week, and I don't just mean over the hangover.

Hell Cabs Do Exist .....

Actually Copenhagen must be one hell of a party town. On New Years Eve 2017, a drunken man got in a taxi and asked to be taken to Oslo in Norway. Now I don't know about where you live, but not many taxi drivers would accept a fare that meant crossing three borders (requiring a passport as well), without some sort of upfront surety.

Getting A Taxi On New Years Eve Can Be Hard.

Anyway, off they set on a 6 hour, 377 mile trip. When they got to Oslo at 1am on New Years Day 2018, the passenger in his 40's jumped out and ran off ..... only to be caught by the police who found him sleeping off his drink. He escaped arrest by paying the 18,000 krona (£1,650 $2206) bill

Incidentally, despite its billing in reports as the 'World's most expensive vodka' this is not actually the most expensive vodka in the world anymore (if it ever was). In 2018 the 10 most expensive vodkas per bottle were:
  1.     Billionaire Vokda – $7.25 Million
  2.     The Eye of the Dragon – $5.5 Million
  3.     Billionaire Vodka – $3.7 Million
  4.     Russo-Baltique Vodka – $1.3 Million
  5.     DIVA Premium Vodka – $1 Million
  6.     Russo-Baltique Vodka – $740,000
  7.     Kors Vodka 24k, George V Limited Edition – $24,500
  8.     Absolut Crystal Pinstripe Black Bottle – $10,000
  9.     Belver Bears – $7,240
  10.     OVAL Swarovski Crystal Vodka – $6,922
