Dangerous Liaisons With Inanimate Objects

An unnamed man decorating his bathroom in Mattaincourt near Épinal, in eastern France slipped, and somehow got his head stuck in his stepladder, trapped between two rungs ...

.... the man, in his 60s, was reportedly still conscious when the medics turned up, after his sister had found him.

He had been stuck for five days. During this time his head had swelled during the ordeal, and he was unable to reach his phone. He was also found to be severely dehydrated too. This is definitely not one to try at home children.

But before we all start rushing to point at the hapless French, and their DIY ladder skills .....

Man Trapped In Step Ladders
Hard to Replicate This ....

..... In 2011 Firefighters were called to help a hapless officer worker, who managed to trap himself in a stepladder in Lewisham, south-east London. The man somehow wedged both legs in the rungs of the three-step ladder.

Woman Stuck In Wire Clothes Horse.
Accidents Do Happen ... But Its Hard To See How

And a video of 18-year-old student Danielle Morgan, became an internet hit a few years ago, after she got her head stuck in a wire clothes horse. She was freed by firefighters in Derby, England, but not before her "friends" took a series of pictures, and posted them online.

Other UK examples include:
  • A man trapped in a chastity belt.
  • A child stuck under a wardrobe.
  • A 36 people handcuffs chain with no key, and
  • A woman who super glued her foot to the floor.

While in 2017 in the US, 56-year-old Judith Permar drove to a charity clothing drop-off box in Philedelphia, and she jumped out of her black hummer SUV, leaving the engine running. She pulled out some stepladders and proceeded to allegedly take (steal) items that people had donated ... this was allegedly not the first time she had been spotted doing this.

Police had received a report of a woman driving the same make of car ,allegedly stealing from the same charity box 3 months earlier, but this time it went tragically wrong. After removing several bags filled with clothes and shoes, she apparently slipped when the stepladder collapsed, her arms sticking in the trapdoor.

Her arms and wrists, which were trapped in the box were broken, while her feet were dangling above the ground. During the night the temperature had dropped to 21 degrees Fahrenheit, and by the time she was found at 08:30am, she had died of blunt force trauma and hypothermia. The reasons why she might have been taking items being donated to charity boxes was unknown, as her family indicated no financial distress, as the hummer SUV also indicates.

And finally in Oct. 2015, a 58-year-old man's body was found lodged in a donation bin in New Jersey after he allegedly attempted to take items from the donation site. Similar deaths have occurred elsewhere in the US and world.

We are a hapless species at times ....

  1. I suspect that any A&E hospital can give you chapter and verse on these types of kid with bucket stuck on his head stories.

I have to admit that the woman in the last picture is unusual.

    1. I doubt anyone can explain the woman with the clothes horse dryer .... You are of course correct about A&E mishaps. The woman with her toe stuck up the bath tap, or men with their nuts stuck in unusual objects are not uncommon, but they are still funny.

Thanks for the comment(s), I always appreciate them.
