Public Civility And Private Poison

The former Labour Lord Chancellor, Lord Falconer ....

Belated Bout Of Truthfulness ....

... has suggested that the Labour party's left wing cannot be trusted and could be out to derail the campaign of Sir Keir Starmer.

He asked BBC Deputy political editor John Pienaar ....

"Who do you believe John?. Do you believe Keir Starmer [who denies allegations of database hacking by his campaign team], or do you believe that shower [the momentum group and left wing], that have been around dealing for example with allegations of anti-Semitism ... My money is on the Keir Starmer side …not on that lot … we know they can't be trusted."

Now he tells us! Where was this revelation about Jeremy Corbyn and his crew before last Decembers General Election?

Its all very well telling the public this when a civil war in the party is breaking out, but why not tell us how untrustworthy the Labour left was before we all voted?

It should also be pointed out that two of the leadership candidates Rebecca Long-Bailey, and Sir Keir Starmer, were in Corby'ns left-wing shadow cabinet and subscribed to all that went on, with a third shadow cabinet member Emily Thornberry (who also subscribed to the policies), still hoping to join them in the next round.

Accusations Of Database Hacking Being Flung About ....

So presumably they should all be tarred as untrustworthy or just those opposing Starmer? Only Lisa Nandy of the three definitely in round two, wasn't in Corbyn's shadow cabinet, but she's considered an outsider for the leadership.

So far the leadership race has been proof of the adage that politicians show their rivals public civility, and privately heap them in poison .... but maybe that facade is about to break, and some painful (but entertaining) truthfulness, is about to be spread about .... I hope so.
