A New Party On The Far Right?

While looking at the reports on another incident at the 4 Star Daresbury Park Hotel near Runcorn, England ....

.... I noticed that the hotel at the centre of another story in August 2020, which was not reported on very much.

The story was the first mention that I could recall of the 'For Britain Movement', who I confess I had never heard of before ... they appear to be an anti-Islam immigration group, and a sort of spin off from the UKIP party. Their leader and founder, Anne Marie Waters had run for the UKIP leadership but been defeated in 2017 and their party has been described as "Nazis and racists" by the former UKIP leadership duo of Henry Bolton and Nigel Farage .... they have been described by the press as 'far right' and this term has been upheld by the Independent Press Standards Organisation in a ruling in February 2019.

A small group representing the party were reported to the police for knocking on the doors of residents of the Daresbury Park Hotel, trying to find illegal immigrants being allegedly housed there after crossing the English Channel. The video they had posted showed the people in the rooms being knocked on identifying themselves as being from countries including Yemen, Iraq, Iran, Sudan and Pakistan  .... a woman's voice heard on the video film shot at the hotel claims they have the “right” to find out how taxpayers’ cash is spent.

The police attended, but no violence was involved, and although no social distancing rules were apparently being observed, as far as I can tell no actual arrests were made. The For Britain Movement leader, Anne Marie Waters told the local press:

“We’re here today because this is scandalous. People are coming into our country illegally. That’s the crucial point. They’re being removed from the English Channel by the border force and put in four star hotels that our own people can’t afford to stay in. Meanwhile, 13,000 British veterans are sleeping on the streets. The country is sickened by this. I’m sickened by this. It’s not right it’s not fair.”

It has been reported by The Independent newspaper that the UK Government has now offered the hotels housing these asylum seekers, extra security and barriers, following a number of similar incidents at hotels around the country .... not that these events are being reported much or at all in the mainstream media as far as I can tell.

This is one storyline to possibly watch later this year, if it is a widespread phenomena as suggested by the newspaper report.
