Three Wheels On His Wagon

I once thought that drink driving had all but died out, as drinking and then getting in a car was such a serious social no no ....

Three Wheels On His Wagon
"Three Wheels On My Wagon .... But I'm Still Riding Along!"

.... of course I was very wrong, and in fact its becoming something of an increasing problem, as is the spate of drunk drivers careering around with cars that have lost a wheel.

Another report on one such vehicle was in August 2021, when police officers from the Central Motorway Police Group pulled over a suspected drunk driver who was spotted travelling at 60mph on the M6 motorway in Staffordshire – with just three wheels (the front left was gone).

Officers tweeted pictures of the white Vauxhall Astra after they pulled it over on Saturday (7/8/2021) morning. Sergeant Rob Powell tweeted: “The driver of this vehicle was arrested for a number of offences including drink driving. He was observed driving along the M6 through Staffordshire with only three wheels."

He later tweeted “One of our unmarked vehicles has footage of the car driving in excess of 60mph with only three wheels. CMPG will publish the in car footage once court proceedings have been finalised.”

Social media users were quick to comment on how drunk the man must have been ... one  Twitter user posted: “How drunk do you need to be before you fail to notice a wheel missing?”

However, lets be honest a, lot of this is fuelled not just by alcohol but also by drug taking (which often makes people feel like they are invulnerable) .... there is now a trend for people to fuel themselves with both alcohol and drugs such as cocaine .... its probably a surprise that we don't see more of this sort of thing on our streets.

The penalties for seriously dangerous dangerous driving just aren't harsh enough, especially when driven by drink or drugs.
