Just Another Day

If you ever had any doubt that the free availability of guns is not really a good idea ....

Lance Storz - Mass Murderer - Rapist - Sodomist
Lance Storz - Mass Murderer - Rapist - Sodomist

.... take a good look at trucker Lance Preston Storz, a 49-year-old from Allen (pop 160), Kentucky, and a man who is accused of shooting dead three law enforcement officers and a police K9 dog, using multiple weapons, including a high velocity, rapid fire rifle.

Four other police officers and an Emergency Management Director were also wounded in what was a planned ambush by a man accused of domestic violence. Forty nine year old Storz, only gave up the struggle after nearly three hours of negotiations involving members of his family.

The police had turned up to serve an emergency protection order at a domestic dispute, to a house in Allen, Kentucky, only to find the house barricaded and were immediately gunned down. Storz held his wife and youngest child as hostages. After he eventually surrendered hours later, Storz’s wife and child were placed in a safe house according to local media, which also reported that Storz was accused of the rape and sodomy, of his wife.

The Three Officers Killed (Petry, Frasure, Chaffin
The Three Officers Killed (Petry, Frasure, Chaffins)

The officers killed were Captain Ralph Frasure, Deputy William Petry and police dog handler Jacob Chaffins, along with the K9 Drago, one of the dogs that Mr Chaffins handled. Storz was initially only charged with two counts of murdering a police officer, five counts of attempted murder of a police officer, one count of attempted murder and one count of first-degree assault on a service animal ... but following the death of officer Chaffins, another murder charge will be added. His bond was set at $10 million, and despite the death sentence remaining a legal penalty in Kentucky, there have been no executions in Kentucky since 2008, and only three since 1976.

Sadly this is just part of a growing trend as the murders of police officers rose by nearly 60% during 2021, amounting to an officer killed every five days, amid a wider rise in violent crime across the US, according to FBI Director Christopher Wray. He said that while "some" of the violence against police is "tied to the violent crime problem as a whole" he believed that "an alarming percentage" of the officers killed were targeted and "killed through things like being ambushed or shot while out on patrol" .... the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) said that it had recorded 103 "ambush-style attacks" on officers in 2021, resulting in 130 officers shot and 30 killed.

Storz is just a poster boy for this growing trend of ambushing police .... for instance in January 2022, two members of the New York Police Department were fatally shot in January, also while responding to a call about a domestic disturbance in a Manhattan apartment building. While immediately after the Highland Park mass shooting incident, hours later, two police officers were wounded in a shooting in Philadelphia during a Fourth of July 2022 fireworks display. Whilst on the 7th of July in Detroit, Officer Loren Courts was ambushed and killed as he responded to reports of a man firing a weapon, Courts was shot in the neck as he was still seated in a squad car, after the suspect apparently shot out a window in his apartment above a barbershop and began firing ..... The 19-year-old suspect was fatally shot by another officer who returned fire.
