Fat Phones - Thin Phones

Someone somewhere must have asked the question .....

No Data Fat Phone - Data Full Thin Phone
No Data Fat Phone - Data Full Thin Phone

..... 'Do devices USB drives get heavier when you store files and photos on them?'

After all in a small schoolboy's logic, if you add something to something then it must weigh more ... that's only logical!

However I recently saw an article that said that its the opposite that's true, This is because  empty flash drives (which phones and tablets use), are loaded with binary code 0000's and when you add data this becomes 00010101's etc. The 0000's weigh more than the 00010101's do, so the USB drives actually get lighter when you add data.

Apparently its because the 0000's and 1111's are stored on transistors, and when you save data, a binary zero is set by charging the float gate of the transistor, and a binary 1 is set by removing the charge. To charge it we add electrons and the mass of each electron is 0.00000000000000000000000000091 grams

of course the difference in weight, is so tiny, that you would need all the USB drives in the world on your scales to be able to measure the difference in weights. So now you know and you will never be able to un-know that fact, even when you have long forgotten the actual explanation as to why. Happy New Year.
