..... to "talk down", a suspected shop lifter.
Ashley Sullivan from from Pitsea, Essex, had been smuggling vodka and steak out of the store in a pram when
he was challenged by the store security.
He then climbed on to the top shelf, and then threw glass vases at the police. What height is that? Oh about 12ft tall .... it used up the time of five police officers, closed the store for over 4 hours, and what did the thieving little Herbert get, bearing in mind that he was recognised by store security because of previous incidents, i.e. he is a persistent offender with a history of crime and mental health issues, including breaching a protection from harassment order?

Well after he admitted criminal damage and threatening and abusive behaviour, he was sentenced to a two-year conditional discharge, and will have to pay ASDA £100 compensation (they lost hours of trade at a cost of thousands of pounds).
So
guess what .... yep, he was involved in a burglary at a home in Basildon just a month later on September 11 .... and on the 11th of April 2019 his sentence for a burglary was deferred to give him one more 'last chance' to rehabilitate after a psychotherapist refused to see Sullivan and make a recommendation until he had proven he could “work with the community”.... god help us ... he can't, otherwise he wouldn't be doing these crimes!
We are now officially soft in the head!
