Lost The Plot

Occasionally I write a post on the super heroes of this world, or rather those who come to public attention whilst dressed in a costume of some sort. But for every few 'good guys', there are also a number of bad guys under those masks. Take the story of Abdullahi Hassan Abdullahi, a man who most definitely will be using the new European right to hide act, on his recent activities.

Abdullahi Hassan Abdullahi - Jason Voorhees ... One Is Scary, The Other A Prat In A Mask.

He was challenged by the police after being spotted wearing a hockey mask and carrying a samurai sword in Upper Holloway, North London following reports of a group of youths armed with bricks and sticks. He ran off and seemed to have escaped but the police found an abandoned bag containing the sword and not long afterwards caught this man. Obviously, in this time of beheading's, he was what is euphemistically called 'a person of interest' to the police and possibly now MI5.

So after his capture he was arrested and remanded to appear at Highbury Corner magistrates court that day on charges of possession of an offensive weapon.

In court he admitted the offence but his defence was that it was a mix of peer pressure and fear of violence that prompted him to carry the sword for self defence. He said that he was a computer science graduate and that he had been stabbed twice before in the back ... "I'm not a mentally ill person. I'm not a terrorist." The judge apparently wasn't convinced by this cunning defence strategy and said to his lawyer "If he is in fear of violence why is he out at night with a hockey mask and sword? You are at home behind closed doors. Peer pressure doesn't put you out on the street."

The judge informed him he was going to prison, it was just a matter of how long for .... so far so good, but then, he was immediately released on bail to appear at Blackfriars Crown Court for sentencing on 1 September 2015. So if, as seems at least possible given the lack of credibility over his defence, that he was in fact a proto-terrorist in the making, or possibly just planning another type of crime (the Jason Voorhees Friday the 13th style mask is a hint as to what was going through his head), apparently the court thought it a good idea to give him a months notice in which to plot and carry out any outrage, or abscond, before any lack of appearance in court would alert the authorities.

Whether he returned to court, or simply fled I can't find out .... but if I had been told I was going to prison, I would use the month to get out of the country.

And we wonder why we are losing the battle with criminals ....
