The NHS reports that in penetrative sex with women, most men in the UK last between six to ten minutes before ejaculation.
Those who regularly last 60 seconds or less, are described as premature ejaculators (also known as a 'disappointment', by women).
Now the figures released by web service Doctor-4-U suggest that nationally some 33 per cent of men in the UK have experienced this condition in the last year.
But their confidential poll (no names, no pack drill), also suggested that there are also marked regional differences in the incidences of this distressing (for female partners at least), condition. According to their survey, men in London are by far the most likely to develop the problem: In fact they are more than twice as likely at 62 per cent, of failing in the bedroom. The cocks of the north, were the men of the East Midlands, of whom only 10 per cent admitted to having any issues in the bedroom.
Now whilst this topic raises much mirth in pubs, and sometimes scorn from dissatisfied sexual partners, it is for some suffers, a seriously distressing condition for those males who are sensitive to their female partners needs ..... of course if your a man who doesn't care, then its not a very distressing condition.
Many of the respondents who reported themselves as distressed in the study, said that their premature ejaculation had led to them suffering mental health issues, and many said that it had contributed to the break-down of their relationships, or even the avoidance of sexual partners. Other side effects were also claimed:
Doctors point out that men should see their GP's about the problem, and not suffer in silence, as there are many possible physical causes of the issue, such as prostate problems, thyroid issues, and also using recreational drugs, that can all cause premature ejaculation .... but for many, its a psychological issue. The causes for these can include depression, worrying about the problem, stress or anxiety - particularly about starting a new relationship.
However, as well as certain home help techniques, there is now a drug available called ‘Fortacin’, which is a spray which contains the local anaesthetics lidocaine and prilocaine, and which is designed to decrease sensitivity in the penis. This drug was only approved for use in Europe in November 2016, but has seen a dramatic rise in its usage, since it began being offered it via prescriptions in March 2017.
Of course it could be that the problem is being simply under reported by the regions, and London's shortcomings, are Britain's as well ... now that would be something to talk about.
