The Idiocracy Confirmed

Without a doubt in my mind, the last couple of UK generations are thicker ....

..... or at least far less well informed about subjects such as History and Geography, than earlier ones.

The reasons for this supposition being possibly true could be factors such as:

• Poorer education standards (from teachers who themselves have come through the same system),
• The impact of mass immigration from cultures that care little for ours, or Western education.
• Or possibly the impact of pollution and environmental factors on the human intelligence.
  

But in any event, the evidence for thinking that there has been a general intelligence decline and the idiocracy is coming, just keeps mounting up.

A poll of general geography knowledge commissioned by Medicspot, has found that more than half (52 per cent) of 18 - 24 year olds in the UK, didn't know that the Eiffel Tower is in France. Moreover only 43 per cent of them could identify Germany's place on a map, while only 40 per cent could place France or Spain on the same map. It just got worse, as the figures fell to 37 per cent for locating Greece and 35 per cent for Switzerland. 

Amongst the wider general population in the UK, 49 per cent admitted that their knowledge of geography was poor (with 15 per cent not knowing where the Eiffel tower was), but amongst the 18 - 24 year olds that figure admitting poor geography knowledge rose to 70 per cent.

I suspect that most of them admitted to having poor geography knowledge, only after all their mistakes were pointed out to them ..... dumb, is only dumb if its pointed out, otherwise ignorance is bliss it seems. But the future looks definitely dimmer .....
