Wild gangs of bad tempered and unruly chickens have become a problem on the channel island of Jersey.

Residents of the island who have been out jogging have been chased by the flocks, while gardens have been dug up and the flocks start calling as early as 3am.
The birds are thought to be 'pets' that
were abandoned in the wild by owners, probably after the birds became unruly. It
appears that the bad tempered birds have bred true and the flocks
(called broods), are all aggressive.
It is believed that there are at
least six broods around the island, with the largest numbering more than
100 birds. They have no real predators on the island other than
domestic cats and dogs (who have obviously not done much to prevent them
breeding successfully), as the island has no fox population.
Now according to Thehappychickencoop.com website, there are a number of chicken breeds that are more prone to becoming aggressive: Brahma, Cornish, Dorking, Lakenvelder, Wyandotte, American Game, Old English Game, Malay, Asil, Oriental Game, Shamo, Modern Game, Saipan Jungle Fowl, Red Jungle Fowl, Sumatra, Thai Game Fowl, Rhode Island Red, Buckeye, Faverolle, Cublaya and Leghorn .... who'd have thought?
