Where's The Justice Nowadays?

In the USA, if you get a sentence for murder, it invariably means whole of life or something quite close e.g. a time period without chance of parole ...

Only One Of These Men Will Stay Behind Bars .....

.... but if you get a double sentence, it always means all of life, as they serve sentences consecutively, and not, as seems to be the case in the UK, concurrently.

Take for example Adam Purinton, from Olathe, Kansas who had already been jailed for 50 years without parole on state murder charges, for the killing of an Indian national who he thought was Iranian, and wounding two other men, one of whom whom he mistook for also being Iranian, when he got another 'double life sentence'. So three life sentences in all .... its fair to say that even if allowed parole, he won't be out again.

Meanwhile, over here:

Zofija Kaczan was a centenarian Polish refugee widow, who had been in Britain since WWII , and in May 2018 she was mugged on her way to church in Derby, England. Sadly she died of the injuries she sustained in the attack .... Detective Chief Inspector Darren De'ath called for witnesses.

A suspect was identified and Artur Waszkiewicz, a 40 year old heroin addict was later was found hiding under a bed at his mother's home in London and arrested. He was convicted of the attack that led to her death. Waszkiewicz got 15 years for manslaughter, and seven years for the robbery in 2019 .... to run concurrently .... my question why concurrently? He could be out by 2026.

Also in 2018, it appears that you can have been convicted of two rapes, three indecent assaults, and six charges of misconduct and get a double life sentence, and still be released on parole after just 7 years in prison. Stephen Mitchell an ex-police officer had been told by the sentencing judge at Newcastle Crown Court in 2011, that as a "ruthless sexual predator" he may never be released unless a parole board thought it safe. However, the judge forgot about the contrariness of the UK parole boards, who are laws unto themselves.

So the Parole Board said in 2018 that they had decided to let him free. They justified this as follows:

"We can confirm that a panel of the Parole Board directed the release of Mr Stephen Mitchell, following an oral hearing in September 2017. Parole Board decisions are solely focused on whether a prisoner would represent a significant risk to the public after release. The panel will have carefully looked at a whole range of evidence, including details of the original evidence and any evidence of behaviour change. We do that with great care and public safety is our number one priority."

Bollocks .... they have remained anonymous, refused to explain how a predatory animal who is suspected of assaulting up to 30 women, could be safe to be in the public after just 7.5 years, and even stated when the release date would be. Oh by the way, the knaves parade above is (L to R) Artur Waszkiewicz, Adam Purinton, and Stephen Mitchell .... only Purinton will remain behind bars.

And the justice authorities wonder why most of us believe that the justice system in the UK is broken.
