I don't know why, but I found this story a bit depressing.

Apparently Oxford Universities famous Conservative association dining club, the Bullingdon Club has been banned by the universities conservatives.
They have declared the clubs (which ex UK Prime Minister David Cameron was infamously a member of), activities and values, as having "No place" in the Students groups ranks. Oxford University Conservative Association has put the society on a list of 'proscribed organisations' .... my how Maoist that sounds, 'proscribed'.
The Bullingdon Club, was founded in 1780, and even featured in the movies 'Riot Club', has been the breeding ground of many senior Tories, including in recent government .... the university is pleased to see reports the club is in decline. We risk losing too much in the name of the plague of Political Correctness, which appears to be sweeping our universities, as the snowflake generation flutters its hands at anything it fears could offend someone, somewhere in the world.
I suspect that left -wing organisations and even a communist club are all allowed at Oxford, never mind any terrorist apologists or anti-semites hiding under the banner of Palestine support groups .... all allowed, but a little conservative dining club .... proscribed.
However in a late development, the ban on the Bullingdon club was overturned. Some technicality about non-members voting .... so with po
faced pomposity the snowflakes had another vote to ban them (or
should I say 'cancel' as that's the culture that leads to this sort of thing?).... the ban was confirmed a few weeks later (but amongst much rancour).
Bully for the initial reprieve, but its rather sad that 238 years of tradition has been lost, for what exactly?
