Bad Hair Day

Jermaine Taylor, from Newport South Wales is a convicted drug dealer ....

He was given a three-year sentence at Cardiff Crown Court in September 2017 supplying controlled drugs.

In August 2019 he breached his bail conditions and went on the run. Gwent Police Facebook page then posted the mugshot above. There was of course much mocking of his weird comb up, to try and  cover his balding pate, with over 55,000 comments on the police Facebook page. Here's a few ....
  • Police are combing the area.
  • Push his release date back further than his hair line, that should teach him.
  • Went into the barbers and asked for a short top and forehead.
  • Hair today gone tomorrow.
  • His hairline goes back further than his family tree.
  • This is what happens when you get a home hair transplant kit from B&M bargains.

and my favourite from the few I looked at: "These comments are disgusting. Pretty obvious the lad has been run over by a mountain bike."

But such is the PC world we live in, that Gwent Police eventually said:

"We're really grateful to everyone who is assisting us in locating Jermaine Taylor, and we must admit a few of these comments have made us laugh."

"However, when the line is crossed from being funny to abusive, we do have to make sure we are responsible and remind people to be careful about what they write on social media."  ... a later a sterner comment was added "Please remember that harassing, threatening and abusing people on social media can be against the law. Our advice is to be as careful on social media as you would in any other form of communication. If you say something about someone which is grossly offensive or is of an indecent, obscene or menacing character, then you could be investigated by the police."

In other words offensive comments could leave people facing prosecution. However as this has gone international and viral, Gwent  Police could be arresting thousands .... they would have been better just not allowing comments on the post.

The irony is of course, that you might spend more time in prison for offending a criminal on the run from the law, than the drug dealing Mr Taylor apparently did.

Moderation is on for older posts to stop spamming and comments that are off topic or inappropriate from being posted .... comments are reviewed within 48 hours. I don't block normal comments that are on topic and not inappropriate. Vexatious comments that may cause upset to other commentators, or that are attempting to espouse a particular wider political view, are reviewed before acceptance. But a certain amount of debate around a post topic is accepted, as long as it remains generally on topic and is not an attempt to become sounding board for some other cause.

Final decision on all comments is held by the blog author and is final.
