..... when everyone's attention was diverted by the arrival on the scene of a golf cart being driven at top speed which suddenly crashed through their perimeter and ignored all shouts to stop.
When the police finally caught the vehicle, it was found to be being driven by a drunk woman tourist, named Jessica Smith from Boston, Massachusetts, who also happened to be stark naked. Initially the police simply ordered her to leave the area (they having more important matters to attend to), but being drunk, and infected with the Florida Woman spirit(s), she refused. There was no apparent connection between her and the besieged gunman, and the 28 year old was arrested for resisting an officer without violence. But this was later changed to DUI and obstruction.The gunman on the roof, 18-year-old Myles Abbott was eventually arrested without anyone being injured after 6 hours, and was charged with loitering and prowling, aggravated assault against a law enforcement officer, weapons charges and resisting an officer without violence .... Just another routine day in Florida.
For instance in July 2021, 32 year old William 'Bubba' Hodge was arrested for attempting to throw a small alligator on to the flat roof of a local cocktail bar to "teach it a lesson". He had apparently found the animal on a local miniature golf course. He was arrested and charged with stealing the animal, injury of a alligator, unarmed burglary and criminal mischief.
Whilst in March 2022 Nicole Gregory, from St Petersburg, Florida, was arrested for selling baggies of Fentanyl. She admitted her guilt, but said she had a legitimate reason to be selling them .... she needed to raise money to pay for an attorney to help her in a previous drug charge. She had previously been arrested for selling Meth, Morphine, and Oxycodone.
In September 2021, Florida emergency services battled to free an unnamed naked woman (with her legs tied together), from a sewer drain in the parking lot of a Fort Myers restaurant. When freed, she claimed that she had no idea how she got there, or why she was tied up, and that she had been staying in a local travel lodge.
The police checked 3 days of CCTV footage overlooking the drain, and could find no evidence of her arriving, or being bought to the drain .... as I said .... just another day in Florida. 😁
