Zombie and Alien Apocalypse

In case you weren't aware, last September we missed an alien invasion and the end of the world. Well, only if you don't live in Southern California, which apparently took the brunt of these cataclysmic events. Californians in Orange County, who were tuned into the Cox and Spectrum cable TV stations, saw this message flash across their TV screens on Thursday the 22nd of September 2017.

Disasters Alerts In Orange County .....

It was accompanied by an audio message that warned them about 'Aliens' arriving. “The space program made contact with... They are not what they claim to be. They have infiltrated a lot of, uh, a lot of aspects of military establishment, particularly Area 51. The disasters that are coming—the military—I’m sorry the government knows about them ...”

And then another message, stating that "In the last days extremely violent times will come", which many took as alluding to the Apocalypse .... no explanation was immediately given by the TV companies, or the state, for this broadcast. Of course the conspiracy blogosphere reacted with the usual credulity, and no investigation .... many suspecting dark forces at work.

However calmer minds took a look at this, and found that the 'aliens' message was actually an old hoax call, first broadcast on the Art Bell hosted, conspiracy theory-themed, radio show 'Coast to Coast AM', in 1997, which had been received from a man claiming to be a former Area 51 employee. The second end of times message, was from a Christian fundamentalist radio program 'Insight for Living' hosted by Chuck Swindoll.

As for how it got on to the TV. Well, broadcast signal intrusions by pranksters are possible in the digital age. A Cox TV spokesperson said that it believes its system got the message, after a radio station or multiple stations were conducting their monthly emergency test, on which cable networks often piggyback on. Spectrum also stated that they to, were fed an incorrect audio file. Usually, radio stations transmit an end “tone” to complete their test alerts to stop them being broadcast. However, this time, it seems no such tone was transmitted, so the system took it to be real and broadcast it .... well at least they know it works.

Digital inserts are actually not that uncommon. Unidentified hackers hijacked TV signals in the Chicago area in 1987, broadcasting footage of a person wearing a Max Headroom mask, and ending with a man’s bare buttocks being spanked with a flyswatter, during an episode of Dr Who. They had already interrupted  WGN-Channel 9,'s 'The Nine O'Clock News', for 30 seconds with a buzzing broadcast of 'Max'. They then hacked WTTW-Channel 11, the PBS affiliate which was broadcasting Dr Who.

In 2013 a suspect was arrested, after someone overlayed broadcasts in several states, with emergency alerts about dead bodies “rising from their graves.” .... So not only have we just missed the Alien Invasion of Earth, followed by The Apocalypse, but the Zombie Plague came and went as well.

Alien Invasion Last September In Area 51 ......

..... Who could have known?

As for the the UK, well we are still stuck with the BBC version of warning ....

Boring BBC Citizen Alert Message ....

.... not a single Zombie, Alien or Demonic Army mentioned!!

Incidentally, did you know that the Doomsday Clock clicked forward 30 seconds at the start of this year, to 2 minutes to midnight. Trump, North Korea, Iran and Nuclear fears have all contributed to this .. the furthest it's been from Midnight was 17 minutes to, in 1991.

    1. Yes, strangely these disasters all happened to just southern California. Only in LaLaLand. Thanks for the comment.
