Moore Stupidity

They breed them big and tough in Lancashire. That's all we can assume when recounting the tale of Scott Moore, an ex-International Rugby League footballer. He had been the youngest person to have ever turned out in the Super League, playing for St Helens at just 16 years of age ... so a big boy even then.

Scott Moore ... From Hero To Zero ....

In October 2016 he was spotted speeding in his black Mercedes-Benz motor vehicle and the police attempted to flag him down. Instead he sped off and reached speeds of nearly 150mph in his attempts to elude them. Not surprisingly he eventually crashed the car, and the police attempted to arrest him.

He decided to continue his resistance and fought with the officers  (just a reminder to foreign readers that UK police are not routinely armed with guns, but often carry Taser's these days). Such was this resistance and core body strength, that the police officers resorted to using their 50,000-volt Taser's during the struggle ..... 6 times in all!

Every time they did so, he would simply get up and charge them again. At one point during the 50 minute struggle, he pulled the Taser's barbs from his body and used the wires to gain control of the weapon. He then threatened a police officer shouting: "You're getting it now!" while pointing it at the officer's face.

The three officers were eventually able to subdue him and he was charged with various motor offence and assault. He was jailed for 23 months at Bolton Crown Court in March 2018 after admitting dangerous driving and assaulting three police officers.

He was not drugged, nor apparently under the influence of alcohol, and hasn't explained why he didn't stop for police, nor why he resisted arrest to this degree. The police officers involved in the struggle all sustained some, mostly minor, injuries but one needed surgery. They were reported as never have "been so scared nor witnessed such a violent individual" in their careers.

Super Taser .... Some Criminals Need Them.

Humans are capable of great feats of strength under some circumstances, and I guess this is an example of this. Perhaps we should have welcomed the 'Super Taser' after all?

However the main lesson from this is .... to any prisoners doing time with Mr Moore, don't mess with him.
