On the 19th of April, 2015 a fire broke out at a house in Middleton Idaho.
The fire brigade were quickly summoned and arrived where their attention was drawn to the cries of "fire" and "help" coming from inside.
They deployed their thermal image heat cameras to try and locate the elderly female that they believed was trapped in the burning building ....... they could see no trace of her. But according to Brad Trosky, deputy chief of operations for Middleton Fire, "She was saying it clear enough so that from outside they believed there was a person they needed to rescue."
So they raced into the property, and commenced searching the rooms. They found no trace of an elderly woman, but did find two parrots sitting on the kitchen table, and who were shouting "Help!!" and "Fire!". The two parrots were rescued, and treated with oxygen from masks, where they quickly recovered .... "They were a little bit loopy when they came out," Trosky said but "With a little bit of oxygen they perked right up."
Once they were revived, the more boisterous female parrot commenced to imitate the sound of the fire engine sirens .... so quick learners. No one was injured in the fire, which ended up being contained to only one room in the house, according to the Middleton Fire Department.
This story isn't so odd .... last year in Clackamas County outside Portland, Oregon, a voice yelled, “Help me” and a concerned UPS driver who had stopped by the home and heard what he thought was a cry for help, texted his wife to call 911 ... Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputy Hayden Sanders broke in, and found Diego the bored parrot.
