You can enjoy a beer way too much ....
Tony Tovar, a St. Louis bar customer is the living proof of this.
Mr Tovar was drinking in a bar called Behrmanns Tavern in his local area, when the door burst open and a man with a rifle entered. The gunman waived the rifle around, and demanded all the customers and staff get on the ground, and hand over their cash and phones.
All did so, except Mr Tovar, who after a casual glance, carried on sipping his beer and playing with his phone. The gunman, noticing this lack of 'respect' (as they usually deem someone not cowering), came over and stuck the weapon into Mr Tovar's side, and tried to grab his phone. Mr Tovar pulled it away from the robber, and then took out and lit a cigarette.
The gunman seemed to accept this resistance and continued to rob everyone else before leaving ....
When asked about his response, Mr Tovar said he was angry at the number of these type of theft incidents in St Louis. "I’m so tired of people in South City thinking they can control people, because they wanna muscle their way in with firearms or attitudes, or some sort of aggression". It’s believed that the armed robbery, was only the second incident at this particular bar, which has been open since the 1930's.
“I wasn’t really concerned,” Tovar told local TV. “I just had a really good feeling he wasn’t out to harm anybody. He just wanted drug money.”
Mr Tovar said he wouldn’t change what he did in the bar, but with hindsight. he wouldn't recommend others doing it either. "It’s probably not your best interest if they have a loaded … firearm, I wouldn’t suggest that to just anybody."
Kevin Jerome Moore was later arrested and is facing four counts each of armed criminal action and first-degree robbery. Moore has prior convictions of first-degree assault, first-degree robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm.
The story of Mr Tovars reaction, and the bar security video footage soon went viral ......
