A short lead post this week ...

| World Takes A Short Pause ... |
... Trump's US still hasn't extracted itself from Iran, so the real world is kind of on a short pause.
Trump has gone off to a very important, possibly the most important ever, conference with the Chinese President Xi this week, leaving many poor countries to face economic and social problems, with fuel shortages, power rationing, fertiliser shortages and the threat of famine in the future in some cases, all because the Straits of Hormuz remain closed, seemingly forever. Israel continues fighting with Hizbollah in Lebanon. On this side of the Atlantic, the war in the Ukraine grinds on in its usual bloody manner, as Putin's Russia also can no longer see a quick victory, and faces years of further losses to conquer the Ukraine, unless there is some sort of unlikely collapse or military breakthrough. For the Russian people its sobering to note that the Ukraine war is now longer than the Great Patriotic War (WWII).
While in the UK, a hard left heist of the UK government is underway, via a leadership challenge being plotted inside the Labour Party. All the proposed challengers apart from one Blairite are left-wing, compared to Prime Minister Starmer, and those left wingers unlikely to win the next election (see Michael Foot and Jeremy Corbyn to see how that goes). But it means that we may have deeply unpopular policies inflicted on us, and frankly ushering in a Reform Party win at the next election ... the left never learns the lesson of radical policies.
So this week I've decided to abandon commenting on world events .... we all need to take a deep breath and a short pause to try for a reset. So to make up for this dereliction, there are four posts on the blog this week 😀

All comments are welcomed, or even just thanks if you enjoyed the post. But please make any comment relevant to the post it appears under. Off topic comments will be blocked or removed.
Moderation is on for older posts to stop spamming and comments that are off topic or inappropriate from being posted .... comments are reviewed within 48 hours. I don't block normal comments that are on topic and not inappropriate. Vexatious comments that may cause upset to other commentators, or that are attempting to espouse a particular wider political view, are reviewed before acceptance. But a certain amount of debate around a post topic is accepted, as long as it remains generally on topic and is not an attempt to become sounding board for some other cause.
Final decision on all comments is held by the blog author and is final.
Comments are always monitored for bad or abusive language, and or illegal statements i.e. overtly racist or sexist content. Spam is not tolerated and is removed.
