Royal Canadian Police At Scene ... Struggling With BMW Occupants. |
Inside the car were five naked people, this despite there being snow on the ground and the temperature hovering around 10C below zero (14F).
When the Royal Canadian Mounted Police arrived the five people were arrested at the scene, with the suspicion that drugs or alcohol may have been a factor.
However it soon became apparent the strange saga had actually begun about 20 minutes before the collision when two adults (an older man and younger woman), and a six-week-old baby were allegedly taken from a residence and forced into a vehicle. They had all managed to escape the moving vehicle and were picked up by a passing truck driver for Leduc Plumbing and Heating.
The pick-up truck was then targeted by the suspects’ BMW car, which rammed it. The police arrived at that point, and in the words of one witness of the arrest of the naked BMW occupants. “The guy had to do the walk of shame in front of everybody, then two more women did the walk of shame in front of everybody … then the one lady was the last to be removed – she put up the biggest fight … It was a pretty wild fight. It took five people to get her out.”

The victims of the apparent kidnap came from a home near that of the attackers, and were not injured during all this, but all those involved were taken to hospital, where it emerged that none of the attackers could remember exactly what had happened. It later emerged that the baffling incident was possibly caused by everyone involved drinking some hallucinogenic “tea” over breakfast. Blood tests were taken at the hospital, but no illicit drugs were found, so they guessed it may have been some type of herbal drug.
It was found that the suspects and victims all knew each other from a local Jehovah's Witness Church. The BMW occupants had been having a breakfast together, when the older male friend at the breakfast, who had just returned from India, offered everyone some tea he’d brought back with him .... a relative later told the Canadian Press that this tea sparked off the “whole crazy spell.”
At the end of it all, three of the naked BMW occupants were facing charges of kidnapping and resisting arrest (not least the last lady to be taken from the vehicle who gave the police a real fight before they cuffed her) ... with further charges added, including impaired and dangerous driving, and four counts of assault with a weapon ... we hoped that this was not a Chesty Morgan reference!
Deadly Weapons ... |
... thankfully the Mounties meant the car was a weapon. The 13-year-old girl and her 15-year-old sister, the daughters of the woman facing the most charges, who were also found naked in the car were not charged.
The three suspects were released on bail and couldn't be named. Sadly, this bizarre tale goes cold now, because the reporting restrictions mean that until charges go to full court, and even then, we may possibly never get to find out the truth of this story.
Now this is a weird story. How can we find out how it ends.
