Talking of corruption and fatboys, as I have over the last few weeks then it was interesting to note that even that most 'honourable' of people, the Japanese, have found that betting money and sport just lead to one thing ...... corruption.
That most Japanese of sports, Sumo, has been racked by a scandal of such consequence that its caused the major tournament, known as the "grand tournament" to be cancelled for the first time since 1946 (when Tokyo's main stadium was being renovated - possibly by American aerial renovators).

It seems that police are investigating allegations of match fixing
(which have implicated 13 senior wrestlers), and this following a scandal
over illegal gambling last year, which saw live television coverage of
the sport dropped by national broadcaster NHK.
Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan has called the match-fixing scandal "a betrayal of the people", and promised a commission of enquiry ...... ain't we all heard that promise before .... Iraq, or even Beagle 2 .... and I'm still none the wiser LOL.
Update: Twenty three wrestlers in total were judged guilty of match-fixing and all were expelled.

Moderation is on for older posts to stop spamming and comments that are off topic or inappropriate from being posted .... comments are reviewed within 48 hours. I don't block normal comments that are on topic and not inappropriate. Vexatious comments that may cause upset to other commentators, or that are attempting to espouse a particular wider political view, are reviewed before acceptance. But a certain amount of debate around a post topic is accepted, as long as it remains generally on topic and is not an attempt to become sounding board for some other cause.
