 ....  has made one of those ridiculous calls for more 'Muslim representation' in Hollywood.

That call ignores the fact that the Bollywood (India) and Nollywood (Nigeria) film industries, make no particular attempts to include Whites or Christians in their output. In other words, in her opinion only whites or non-Muslims have to have to play the racial integration and 'equality' game ... the rest of the world can carry on being as racist or non accepting as before. 

Even more stupidly she claimed at the US Variety's Power of Women event (where she was being honoured) that  'Muslims are 25 per cent of the population, but only one per cent of characters in popular TV series.' .... presumably she meant in the West.

According to a 2020 U.S. Religion Census, there are approximately 4.45 million Muslims in the country i.e They make up just 1.3% of the US population. According to the 2021 United Kingdom census, Muslims in England and Wales numbered 3,868,133, or just 6.5% of the population. So where the heck she gets 25% of the population from is a mystery .... Or perhaps she means of the world population, to which the answer is then why don't Muslims make their own movies????

Could it be because they would just be hard-line religious propaganda movies, or perhaps movies with women tied to houses, and not able to interact with any males except their husbands, siblings or father?  The Turks for example make films and TV shows in which the villains are always Jews, such as in the film Valley Of The Wolves (where the Jews usually try to seduce good Turkish girls, or even kidnap children), or there was Hamas TV, in which Mickey mouse type characters shout death to the Jews to Arab children .... so you can imagine what these movies would be like. 

How for instance could Muslim women, unable to be seen except fully covered, interact with Westerners in these Hollywood films? Certainly not with Western males. She obviously hasn't the slightest idea and has simply mouthed something suggesting anti-Muslim bias, without considering what happens to Muslims who make movies or TV people might want to watch. 

For instance, bravely, some Iranians have made worthwhile movies where men and women interact, but are then always threatened by the regimes leaders, because these movies don't fit the religious and moral requirements of Sharia Islam and the government. Just off the top of my head ..... Iranian film-maker Jafar Panahi was given a six-year sentence, handed down in 2010 after his conviction for “propaganda against the system”.

Iranian director and screenwriter Saeed Roustayi was sentenced to six months of correctional imprisonment, for the production and screening of his film 'Leila's Brothers' at the Cannes Film Festival. Taraneh Alidoosti, the lead actress in “Leila's Brothers,” was arrested for her speaking out. Iranian documentary film-maker and female rights activist Mojgan Ilanlou was also arrested in Tehran.

Mohammad Rasoulof a Golden Bear winner in 2020 for “There Is No Evil,” and his colleague Mostafa Aleahmad were arrested, and accused of attempting to “inflame and disrupt the psychological safety of the community.” Rasoulof had previously been sentenced in an Iranian court to “one year in prison and a two-year ban on making films on the charge of ‘propaganda against the system’ for the content of his movies.”

Malaia not only vastly over estimated the numbers of Muslims in the UK and USA or the West, but also  ignored the fact that as a Muslim woman, she herself was attacked in Pakistan, just for asking for an education, let alone making movies. She still can't live in any Muslim country safely, as her life would be at risk, but calls for more Islam in the West. Does she really want the Taliban, ISIS, Hamas, Al-Queda here ?? .... we already have supporters for all these group amongst our south Asian descent populations and others who would likely harm her if they could.

She has just graduated from Oxford University with a Philosophy, Politics and Economics degree .... but if this is the standard of research that a graduate now undertakes before making a speech, then standards have really fallen. 

She should perhaps be more grateful for all the gifts given to her by the non-muslim world, before asking for more Islamic content in the movies. She isn't qualified to do much work really, but will almost certainly end up with a very well paid Quango or NGO job in the Western world .... Its certainly more than she would ever have got in any Muslim country.
