In Thailand they believe in Ghosts and Spirits ......
..... They believe in them a lot. Its part of the Buddhist culture of the country.
Nothing wrong in that, after all don't the monotheistic religions believe in Angels, or Djinn and even flying horses with human heads ..... While the Communist run China still has Tomb Sweeping Day (Qingming) in which includes leaving food offerings for the ancestors.
So its perhaps its no great surprise that the Thais combine this belief in ghosts generally, with a strong tradition of ancestor reverence, which much like in China, can include visiting graves and tending for them with offerings ..... but Mr Boosom Silapachai takes this just a bit further than most.
He works for a foundation that works in the Chon Buri's Phan Thong province of Thailand, and that in 2018 started screening movies in a local graveyard. The graveyard contains at least 100 'residents,' and the movies on the giant screen are for them, plus a few local living neighbours and foundation staff,
Mr Silapachai said that the movies had been well received by those watching, well he had no complaints. Asked why his foundation was doing this, he said that he believed that the screenings would bring good luck for the staff, and that the ghosts would have enjoyed the movies.
