I was watching a TV program presented by Louis Theroux about Black Nationalism in the USA ..... he started with the Reverend Al Sharpton, moved on to the Nation of Islam, then to a splinter from the Nation of Islam, led then by Dr Khalid Muhammad, and then ever further into the murky world of the Israeli School of Universal Practical Knowledge, who believe that blacks are the true Israelites, and that all English monarchs until early modern times were black (as well as Beethoven, Mozart, William Shakespeare, and Tom Jones)
It was striking, how some of the people interviewed appeared just ill informed, but some were to say the least, ill advised. Rev Sharpton, came over as bright enough, but very politically motivated and therefore willing to embrace any 'black issue' regardless of merit. However one of his aides, Ed, obviously hit it off with Theroux, and seemed genuinely to believe in the cause.
The Nation of Islam on the other hand, basically refused to talk about their theology, but Dr Muhammed was mainly interested in achieving a separate black state in the US, centred around Georgia, Carolina and Alabama, using armed force if necessary to achieve it.
However Theroux missed many of the other black groups such as the New Black Panthers, the United Nuwaubian Nation of Moors, Black Hebrew Israelites, and the very violent and anti white Nation of Yahweh. This last group, has had many members convicted for murdering 'white devils' as the entrance test for a secret group called "The Brotherhood".
Several Nation of Yahweh members were convicted of 'conspiracy' in more than a dozen anti-white murders, among them Robert Rozier, a former pro football player and member of the secret Brotherhood, who admitted the killing of seven white people. Virtually all these latter groups are Black Supremacist believing that whites are devils, and indeed Theroux was called a "white devil" after a sermon by the Reverend Al. I won't bother to explain the limp penis size, white killer slaves, genetic inferiority, leprosy colouring, and other inane "scientific" theories used by these groups to explain 'black supremacy' over the whites.
It seems especially laughable a theory, when you look at the social and political state of all Black countries, and the high violent crime rates accompanied by low educational attainment, that are prominent features of many black communities world wide. But that's the whole point of these groups, claiming 'supremacy' as a compensation for the reality of the world.
One other point that struck me was Theroux also interviewed "Boer Separatists" in a later show. These were afrikaner separatists, who dreamt of building cultural enclaves in a post-apartheid South Africa, under their leader Eugène Terre'Blanche. Apparently its terribly wrong for whites to not want to live in black politically run states, and led to much comment in the UK press, but is exactly the same political aims as espoused by nearly all these black groups, which was not commented on by the UK press.
I wonder what the civil rights and social integrationists of the 1960's such as Dr Martin Luther King would have made of it all? I suspect that they would be very disappointed with the general lack of advancement by black communities worldwide, and the fact that in some respects, the lot of black societies generally, has either not improved, or even worsened since then. But most of all, I suspect that they would be disappointed by the calibre of the 'leadership' offered to Black communities.
President Obama has much resting on his shoulders, not least reinvigorating a community which has apparently failed to move forward in much of the world.
