As Seen In Many Movies ...... |
.....ha ha ha ....
..... Except its not always quite as funny when it really happens to to someone.
A woman in Connecticut USA mistakenly lit a quarter stick of dynamite instead of a candle, after mistaking it for a candle during a power outage. She suffered severe injuries to her hand, and she might lose fingers. She also suffered serious facial injuries. The explosion did not injure anyone else.
The family believed the dynamite sticks were candles left behind in the basement by previous residents. Although it’s against the law to have dynamite or fireworks in Connecticut (no, really!!), the police aren’t pressing charges.
The willingness of North Americans to countenance the free purchase of the most dangerous of substances as being a 'freedom' and 'right,' and therefore part of being an American, never fails to astound me. I guess its the biggest difference between being a Western European and North American ..... oddly in Eastern Europe, guns and explosives are as freely available as the US e.g. Duckpin Bowling.
I guess if it was going to happen anywhere it was going to happen in the USA. The power outage must have made it difficult to discern the letters TNT on the wooden crate that was sitting on the big anvil next to the ACME jet pack.
ReplyDeleteI take it you don't recommend the Acme jet pack then?
DeleteI understand that there might be a problem with the brakes on some models.
DeleteThanks for the tip .... I'll take it back to Acme.
