Dictators Follies

One of the stranger aspects of a dictators fall (if the fall is absolute), are what happens to their idiocentricities and follies after the inevitable fall from power of them or their descendants.

Chairman Meow

Chairman Mao for example banned real pets as symbols of “bourgeois decadence”. Under his rule dogs were killed, hidden, or even smuggled out of the country. Cats were allowed, but only as they killed rats and mice, and therefore were in balance with his "four pests" campaign.

Arrivederci Roma

So its a wave goodbye to Europe's equivalent to the late (and unlamented) 'Gadfather', Silvio Berlusconi.

Italians for the most part, seem relieved (despite the fact that they kept voting for him in large numbers), but for us at PC Towers, this is a sad loss, as we cast around for a new political figure of fun.

..... the premise is that in June 1940, Hitler and Churchill met up near the Belgium border to discuss British surrender terms .... the Nazi papers which described the meeting are on the loose, and the British, Soviets, CIA and a German group are all after them for different reasons.
