.... appears to be a blackened, shattered, wasteland, populated by peasants harvesting grain.
His decision to go back to the old Soviet tactics of WWII, and use his armies artillery to pound the Ukraine into surrender, means that there is simply nothing left of the occupied land to constitute a viable country.

In reply the Ukraine has only one artillery piece for every 10-15 that Russia has, and its now bleeding to death ... The Ukrainian government says that between 100 and 200 of its troops are being killed in battle every day .. its also in danger of running out of artillery shells. The Western promises of long range weapons are too little and probably going to arrive too late.
The erasing of independent Ukrainian history, by flattening it, is actually to Putin's advantage, as he claims that its history, is actually Russian history, and not that of an independent nation.
The fact is, that this barbaric and illegal tactic of indiscriminate shelling of cities, means that the Ukraine is probably fighting a losing battle in the long term, and this will result in a defeat ... now its simply a matter of whether Putin rolls over the whole country, or stops at some stage short of full conquest.
The new ghost cities of Ukraine will possibly be the only reminder of a ghost nation.
