Sometimes the brightest of ideas can have the strangest of results. The Czech's, proud of holding the revolving presidency of the EU, commissioned what they thought was work from 27 European artists for a display. Unfortunately it was all the work of a local boy David Cerny, who then satirised the whole European Project, much to the annoyance of the Czechs neighbours.
Most angry were the Bulgarians whose country was portrayed as a series of squat "Turkish style" toilets, which hints at the centuries of occupation by Turkey, and who have complained, forcing an apology from the Czech's. The Bulgarians, in a Borat fit of humour have sent Mr Cerny a toilet bowl ..... hmm is that actually ironic or just plain stupid?
He has a go at quite a few countries, Holland for example is shown as a series of minarets submerged by a flood - hinting at the Islamic immigrant flood that is submerging Holland. The UK simply is not included, as we are notoriously sceptical about being in Europe.
Anyway, if you want to see what all the fuss is about, go here.

All comments are welcomed, or even just thanks if you enjoyed the post. But please make any comment relevant to the post it appears under. Off topic comments will be blocked or removed.
Moderation is on for older posts to stop spamming and comments that are off topic or inappropriate from being posted .... comments are reviewed within 48 hours. I don't block normal comments that are on topic and not inappropriate. Vexatious comments that may cause upset to other commentators, or that are attempting to espouse a particular wider political view, are reviewed before acceptance. But a certain amount of debate around a post topic is accepted, as long as it remains generally on topic and is not an attempt to become sounding board for some other cause.
Final decision on all comments is held by the blog author and is final.
Comments are always monitored for bad or abusive language, and or illegal statements i.e. overtly racist or sexist content. Spam is not tolerated and is removed.
