There Are No Loopholes |
The statisticians at the TaxPayers Alliance have used figures gleaned from the Office for National Statistics to at least determine what your likely tax bill for a lifetime will be.
Now I am sure that they update this annually, but I could only find last years figures readily available. So up until 2016, over a lifetime:
- An average household (a gross household income of £41,027), will pay £826,030 in direct and indirect taxes.
- An average household will pay £287,963 in income tax.
- An average household will pay £169,371 of VAT.
- An average household will pay £107,045 of Employee’s National Insurance Contributions.
- An average household will pay £65,068 of Council Tax.
By contrast:
- An average household in the bottom 20 per cent by income (a gross household income of £13,841), will pay £319,732 in direct and indirect taxes.
- An average household in the top 20 per cent by income (a gross household income of £86,768), will pay £1,686,970 in direct and indirect taxes.
The Trump seems to have found the Tax loophole. Let's hop he hasn't found a loophole for the other one.
