A photograph has gone viral ......
..... that shows an 800-year-old, crude relief woodcut sculpture, of a man
exposing himself on the ceiling of All Saints Church in Hereford,
England.
No
one is really sure how long its been there, as it was uncovered when a new café gallery was opened up at the Church .... some believe that it may
be to ward off evil spirits, but wood carvers and especially stone masons, were very independent minded in
the middle ages, and it may be that the carver may have just been bored, or pissed
off with the local clergy over something (like the pay). After all, as it was hidden in the roof carvings, it could be someone about to defecate on the heads of those praying below.
Personally I just think the carver just thought this was funny ....
..... after all, this isn't the only example of church and cathedral workers humour created over the centuries.

Moderation is on for older posts to stop spamming and comments that are off topic or inappropriate from being posted .... comments are reviewed within 48 hours. I don't block normal comments that are on topic and not inappropriate. Vexatious comments that may cause upset to other commentators, or that are attempting to espouse a particular wider political view, are reviewed before acceptance. But a certain amount of debate around a post topic is accepted, as long as it remains generally on topic and is not an attempt to become sounding board for some other cause.
