I have seen some strange stuff on the Web this week (screen prints in story). A lot of it on the Have Your Say comments on the BBC website.

A Piece Of Paper From Moscow, Probably Worthless. |
One thing was a reminder that Ukraine had only given up their nuclear arsenal acquired at the dissolution of the Soviet Union, after Russia, the USA and the UK, all agreed to respect and protect Ukraine's then borders as a sovereign nation, in exchange for them doing so.
It was at that time, the 3rd largest nuclear arsenal in the world .... not only do they probably regret that decision, but the assurances (like the 1938 Munich Agreement) weren't worth the paper they were written on .... signed in 1994, the Budapest_Memorandum agreement lasted just 20 years, and the UK and USA did virtually nothing to protect Ukraine's borders in 2014 despite their previous agreement to do so.![]() |

But the other thing washing about on-line, was the strange theory being propagated that Donald Trump is in fact a possible Russian asset. That he may have the code name of KRASNOV, and that he may have been subverted in 2012, after Russian Intelligence might have filmed Trump in a hotel room in Moscow or St Petersburg, and any of the events that might have taken place there. There was even a hinted suggestion that he had visited Epstein Island and that may also have been filmed.

BBC HYS Speculations Combined |
The terms the 'NerdReich' and the 'Pumpkinfuhrer' were also used to describe Trump and his government. While 'MAGA = Moscow Agent Governing America' was also used ... emotions were apparently running high in certain political circles and view points.
I have to say that I doubt Donald Trump could ever be blackmailed over Russian prostitutes (even if the hypothesising had any basis of truth, which I also very much doubt) ... lets be honest he's been convicted of activities in the US, and still got elected with a majority .... he's bullet proof at the moment, and he knows it.
But all this fevered baseless speculation, by people who wouldn't support him, even if he was proved right (admittedly unlikely), in every claim or assertion he makes, reminded me of the tale about the late Yugoslavian dictator General Tito. According to the story, he was on a Aeroflot flight to Moscow, and the KGB staffed the plane with female agents, who were told to be 'very nice' to Tito as it was hoped to set up a sting operation if he took the comely bait.
Apparently, Tito was 'very friendly' with not one, but several of the female agents ... the whole thing was filmed by KGB cameras. The KGB sent a copy to Tito, and threatened to publish it to the world if Tito (who wasn't toeing the Moscow line), didn't start doing what Moscow wanted.
However, it all backfired when Tito was thrilled when shown the movie, and his epic performance, despite him not being a young man, and simply asked for some copies to send to his friends!! .... remind you of anyone?
Ha ha liked the Tito story.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I came across it decades ago in a newspaper (Possibly the Sunday Times?) in a comment piece and never had any chance to use it until now ... whether its true or not I can't confirm but it stuck in my head all this time, cos I thought it funny.
