It's A Gay Old Life

A Catholic Bishop, Cardinal Keith O'Brien, has set the PC Brigade into overdrive by his suggestion that plans allowing homosexuals to be classed as 'married' was a "grotesque subversion of a universally accepted human right", and would "shame the United Kingdom in the eyes of the world".

He has joined other church clergy, such as the Anglican Archbishop of York, John Sentamu, who in January insisted governments did not have the moral authority to 'redefine marriage'. Interestingly the word 'Gay' was also defined differently, until the homosexual lobby forced it into another usage ..... so the fact that 'Gay' people are 'Unhappy' about the Bishops comments strikes no one as faintly ludicrous.

In the interests of clarity, I should point out that the proposed change is not to religious marriages and is not to be imposed on religious groups. Its just a change to call what is now called 'Civil Partnership' to be classed as 'marriage'. Sadly for the Bishop, the Catholic churches moral standing has been much dissipated by cover ups associated with the child abuse scandals of the last decade, so he is hiding behind a very small moral fig-leaf when he starts arguing against 'gay marriages'.

My interest in this is that in opening up the debate like this, the Bishop has raised some interesting questions, not least of which is do the government have the right to redefine marriage without asking everyone? For several thousand years (in both pre and post Christian times), marriage has been defined pretty much as the social institution under which a man and woman establish their decision to live as husband and wife by legal commitments, religious ceremonies, etc. No society before has ever permitted the definition to apply to same sex partners.

All the evidence shows that when governments start to tamper with the common rules that have bound societies together for millennia, then it has unforeseen consequences .... unmarried pregnancy was frowned upon before the law changes of the 1960's, and now we have 44.4 per cent of live births outside of marriage. We also have very high single parent rates (especially amongst teen girls) .... society is paying a very high price in terms of crime, civil disorder and a low level permanent degradation of values for that bit of social engineering.

Once the homosexual lobby could argue that it was them who were being discriminated against in the West, but increasingly its now the gay activist wing of the PC brigade who are practising legal discrimination and harassment, against anyone who stands against them. Its now the gay activist lobby who is usually the first to call the police as soon as anyone disagrees with them. How many people have lost their jobs after being dragged before a tribunal or court for "homophobia?

One final thought, there has been marked silence in all this anti religious (Christianity) rhetoric about the thoughts of the self claimed 'fastest growing religion' in the UK and West. You know the one, the one whose adherents believe that homosexuals should be hanged (and even have the tacit support of the UN). Being denied 'married status' would be the least of the 'Gay' communities worries if they had their way.

All those calling for the end of Christian churches influence in the UK and elsewhere, should be careful what they wish for, and what might replace Christianity as the moral authority in the vacuum of the West.

The Two Faces Of Northern Ireland

Ireland has always had a Jekyll and Hyde personality ..... on the one hand its all Leprechauns, Shamrocks, Pubs, "The Craic", 'Smiling Irish Eyes', Guinness, 'St Paddy's Day' and New York Band Parades, but on the other, its Northern Ireland, Sectarianism, Bombings, Assassinations, Mass Murder, Irish 'Traveller' invasions, Marching Seasons, IRA, Republicanism, Orange Orders, Derry, and 'London' Derry ....

There have been very worrying signs that the darker side is coming to the fore again .... there has always been low level violence in Northern Ireland. Even during the 'Peace Process' brokered about a decade ago, the republican gangs have operated as low level criminal enforcers ... allegedly certain sectors of the economy are run by former terrorist gangs, some of whom have drifted into completely criminals endeavours such as bank/post office raids, protection rackets and of course the ubiquitous drug trade (which now finances violence in large areas of the world).

Now however, despite the political and economic gains that have been part of the peace dividend, some sections of the 'Republican' movement have now apparently decided to resume the terror campaigns of the 1970's, 80's and 90's .... their aims are even less coherent than in that last campaign (where even the  southern Irish state didn't want what they were proposing  ... as it would simply have transferred the violence from Belfast to Dublin).  Apparently they don't want Catholics to join the police so they are sending death threats to Catholics who have joined, and have just assassinated a Catholic police officer (after other attempts last year). They also have attempted to place bombs on roads and town centres .... bombs which would kill Catholics as well as Protestants,

This shows how twisted the 'logic' of terrorists becomes ... in order to 'protect' the Catholic community they kill and terrorise members of the same community ..... try and explain the rational behind that. Of course in reality the only 'threat' to the Catholic community now, comes from their 'protectors' in the 'Republican' movement. This has led to the strange sight of the former leaders of 'the struggle' as they termed it, having  to condemn terrorism from another generation of 'Republicans'  .... Martin McGuinness has urged the Catholic community to support the police, and others have also had to make political statements which they may otherwise never have made.

Ironically, while this has been happening, another face of Northern Ireland is being beamed to the world, as Rory McIlroy is trying to win one of the major events of golf, on the final day of the US Masters. So lets finish this post with an image of hope, and not one of terror.

Same Old Rows In Church Of England

Yawn, yawn yawn, etc ..... the Church of England is having another spasm in its death.

Yes its debating how to try to find a way to introduce women bishops without driving Anglicans apart..... oh yea, like that's not gonna happen. There is also a growing row over a decision to block the appointment of a gay cleric as Bishop of Southwark ..... so much so same so as the last time they 'debated' these same issues.

Episcopalian 'Gay' Bishops Spell End Of Communion

The longest suicide note in history continues with the 'ordination' of practising 'lesbian' bishops in the United States by the Episcopalian branch of the Church Of England ............ they seem to have completely lost their minds, and are now just a rump of a church, dominated by a vociferous and divisory sexual minority, who care only about advancing the cause of a sexually minuscule group, rather than in representing any majority religious congregation.

Where this leaves the UK's general C of E members its hard to say, because make no mistake, the same group that have seized control of the Episcopalian Church, are also operating in the C of E, so the likelihood is that they are following the same agenda as their US sisters ...

When you consider that they face the very eradication of their faith in the UK by the militant spread of its enemy, you would think that they would have their eyes on the probable future, not on catering to a hijacking minority.

Pot Calls Kettle Black

The Archbishop of Canterbury has said the Roman Catholic Church in Ireland has lost "all credibility" over the way it had dealt with paedophile priests.

Anglican Pot Calling Catholic Kettle

I'll say this, for a man who is presiding over a church that is breaking up over the issue of homosexual priests, female Bishops, and eventually a female or homosexual Archbishop, Dr Rowan has a real nerve to criticise any other church over the manner in which it handles sexual matters.

The words 'Hypocrisy' and 'Religion' are never far away from each other.

Religion For Oddities, Foreigners and Minorities

Sometimes you can't make this stuff up.

Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury, has accused the government of treating religious faith as "an eccentricity, practised by oddities, foreigners and minorities".

This from the head of a church, in which a sexual minority is allowed to overturn 2,000 yrs of Christian teachings in order to accomodate their preferences, and effectively expel the silent majority ....... how odd is that?

Church Falls Apart Over US Gay Bishop Vote

This weekend the Anglicans took another step towards the breakup of their communion with the appointment of yet another US lesbian Bishop. I have been following this process with some interest and a lot of laughter over the last few years, and yet even I am still surprised at the willingness of this organisation to rip itself apart, just because a sexual minority group insist on changing the Christians beliefs to justify their sexual inclinations.

I mean, why can't they simply open their own church with their own interpretation of the Bible, or isn't that the point? Is it really just an attempt to take over an established church organisation from the inside? ....... a church traditionalist clergyman, Rev Kendall Harmon of South Carolina, told Associated Press: "This decision represents an intransigent embrace of a pattern of life Christians throughout history and the world have rejected as against biblical teaching". In other words, only the US Episcopalians and UK Anglicans in the whole Jewish, Christian (and Muslim) world, chose to interpret the Torah/Bible in this manner.

I just can't help thinking that the 'tail is wagging the dog', and that the Anglicans are allowing these 'sexual terrorists' to emotionally blackmail them into handing over the church and its establishment.

What are they arguing about?

Well, a small but vociferous gay group within the Anglican Communion claim that the Bible doesn't really condemn homosexuality. That in fact the words of

  • Leviticus 18:22 "Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; it is an abomination" or a bit later in
  • Leviticus 20:13 "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads".

don't really mean what they appear to clearly say.

Although as I am an atheist, and what a supernatural being called Jehovah (or Odin for that matter) is said to believe about sexuality is at best a moot point to me, apparently the Church 'Liberals' have argued that these, and other Bible / Torah apparent references to homosexuality are not the strict prohibitions against homosexuality that they appear to be, but are in fact apparently just to stop Jews sleeping with Canaanites (who I assume were all homosexuals - no wonder they disappeared).

Another bunch argue that in some convoluted argument, that what it really means is that the verses 'in no way prohibit, nor do they even speak, to loving, caring sexual relationships between people of the same gender' ............ really? I must be looking at the words in a strange way i.e. not squinting, and then ignoring every one of them.

So they are ordaining homosexual clergy, against the wishes of the majority of the Communion in Africa and elsewhere who strongly disapprove.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, a man who appears totally out of his depth on this issue, has said that the move raised "very serious questions" for both the Episcopal Church in the US, and the Anglican Communion as a whole...... Hmm, ah well, if the C of E wants to let itself be hijacked and destroyed, that's their business, but it is funny that PC has so tied their hands, that the majority have to leave the church in splits, with the minority left in charge.
