Is Thailand developing a Florida culture?

| 'Heads In Chicken Coops Are Normally Chickens' |
.... I have had a number of bizarre stories from that country.
On Sunday, the 28th of July 2024, local Neighbours of Thai couple, Narin and Phattara, in the Laplae district of the northern province of Uttaradit, heard screaming coming from their house with Phattar claiming that she could not breathe, during an apparent argument, after drinking alcohol together.
The local community leader rushed round after the neighbour reported the row to him, but it had gone silent and he discovered Narin was in the process of hacking her head off with a meat cleaver ..... understandably he didn't hang around the madman, and ran. But he called the police and officers from Laplae Police Station, and local administrative officials, found Phattara’s headless body outside her home, while her head was later found in a chicken coop near the house.
Police captured Narin the next day, when he returned home due to hunger. Narin was drug tested positive for methamphetamine, also known locally as Yaba, and he also admitted to drinking alcohol before the murder.
Given the evidence and the local community leaders identification, Narin admitted murder. However, he claimed to have an excuse ..... he believed that his wife was possessed by a ghost called Phi Ka prompting him to attack it. He believed that the ghost might have attacked him if he hadn’t taken action. This ghost is widely known among Thai people in the northern provinces of Thailand. The ghost is believed to possess humans and likes to eat raw food.
Narin also expressed regret to his son for killing his mother while ridding her of the ghost, and said that he had loved his wife and regretted that he could not apologise to her as well, since she had already passed away. He subsequently urged journalists to stop questioning him ....
He had not been officially charged in the reports as he hadn't been to court, but it was expected that he would be charged with intentional murder. The potential penalties include the death penalty, life imprisonment, or imprisonment ranging from 15 to 20 years, as well as imprisonment of up to one year, and a fine of up to 20,000 Baht, for using a Category 1 drug (methamphetamine).
This crime was so bizarre it reminded me of the type of drug fuelled crime that we normally associate with Florida .... oh and the picture above, Mike, the headless chicken, as I obviously couldn't use a crime picture in this case.
