| Unknown Asian Male In Hospital |
They described him as 'An Asian Male in his mid-50's or early 60's with black hair with sparse greys and dark brown eyes, 5ft 8in (1.7m) tall and weighing about 140lb (63.5kg)' ..... and they wanted to know who he was.
The mystery man had arrived with no ID, speaking no English and speaking an unknown language .... so profound was the language difficulty, that they didn't have any idea what his name was despite the fact that he could speak and was aware.
So they put out the press release in the hope that someone was missing the man or could identify the language ..... of course the suspicion was that he may be an illegal immigrant. However by the 29th of December the hospital put out a statement that they “ ... appreciate your sharing the information for us,” the hospital said on Dec. 29. “We are glad to have reunited our patient with his family.” No further details surrounding the discovery of his loved ones or nationality were released.
Actually this situation occurs a lot in the polyglot city of Los Angeles ....

..... the same one hospital in LA alone, has put out a number of such alerts in just the last couple of years .... they usually also end with an identification and family reunification, although there was some hint that occasionally they are attempts to avoid paying for the treatment that the patients are receiving.
In the US, hospitals have to stabilise inpatients brought in as emergency patients (regardless of ability to pay), but they still charge for the treatment and services, if they can get the money back from the family or the patient. Nothing is free in the US health system.

But a certain amount of debate around a post topic is accepted, as long as it remains generally on topic and is not an attempt to become sounding board for some other cause.
