The Honours Dishonoured

The honours system once again proved how pernicious the class system still is in the UK. It was noticeable in this New Years Honours List, that the famous, the rich, the powerful, and the political establishment, are given Knighthoods, or are made Dames, while those who are not in the top 0.01% of society are not.

This was nicely illustrated by the fact that MP's, Anne McGuire and David Amess, both got top honours i.e. she became a Dame, and he was Knighted ... Who are they? What have they ever done except be voting lobby fodder? Who knows .... possibly not even them .... certainly they have never held high office that I am aware of.

Similarly the comic 'actor' James Corden, a man whose career up until the age of 36 (if a couple of years of low level fame is a ''career'), has gained him a OBE 'for his work in film and television'. Some people work 30 years, saving people's lives or making a difference, to get a similar medal. e.g A lady who has given more than four decades of dedicated service to the Scouting movement in Romford, Essex, was made an MBE.

Dr Campbell, the inventor of Viagra in 1985 was only made a Knight in this year's honours. Only 30 years after his initial  research into blood pressure led to Viagra in 1998.

There are even super upgrades for the top elite. .. .. Baroness Ashton the former EU foreign policy chief got an upgrade to the highest class of the Order of Saint Michael and Saint George ... obviously her Baronetcy wasn't enough reward. While the inventor of the wind up radio Trevor Baylis has now got a CBE to add to his OBE ... No step up for him .... next stop an MBE?. He's obviously not the right stuff, unlike the clothes designer Mary Quant who was also made a Dame.

The lower awards invariably go to the 99.9% of us who are not in the elite 0.01% ..... but lets not forget that the same 'honours' system gave us:

• Sir James Savile OBE, KCSG ~ Paedophile.
• Sir Fred Goodwin ~ Goodwin's knighthood, awarded in 2004 for "services to banking", was "cancelled and annulled" on 1 February 2012 ~ remains a millionaire.
• Sir Jeffrey Archer ~ Resigned as MP resigned over a financial scandal which left him almost bankrupt. Later resigned as chairman of Conservative party after another scandal, conviction and subsequent imprisonment for perjury and perverting the course of justice ~ remains a millionaire.
• Baron Hanningfield ~was convicted of false accounting in the Parliamentary Expenses scandal and sent to prison. Following his release, he resumed his parliamentary career as an independent peer.
• Baron Taylor ~ Found guilty by the jury on six counts of false accounting, relating to the Parliamentary Expenses scandal and sent to prison. Disbarred from practising Law.

The Queen Often Forced To 'Honour' The Undeserving ......

• Sir Robert Mugabe ~ In 1994, Mugabe was appointed an honorary Knight Grand Cross in the Order of the Bath by Queen Elizabeth II. On 25 June 2008, the Queen cancelled and annulled the honorary knighthood after advice from the Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom. "This action has been taken as a mark of revulsion at the abuse of human rights and abject disregard for the democratic process in Zimbabwe over which President Mugabe has presided."

........ enough said.

Just for the record for those who don't understand them, these are the Commonly Awarded Ranks:

• Companion of Honour - Limited to 65 people. Recipients wear the initials CH after their name
• Knight or Dame - Top honour
  
• CBE - Commander of the Order of the British Empire
• OBE - Officer of the Order of the British Empire
• MBE - Member of the Order of the British Empire
• BEM - British Empire Medal

..... yeah, I know, we haven't got any empire anymore .... its just one more part of the anachronism.

Clock The Hypocrisy

British Government Ministers are writing to their counterparts in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to seek a UK-wide consensus on a trial of moving the UK clocks permanently forward. In a very European mode, the UK would adopt Central European Time, with BST plus one hour in summer and GMT plus one in winter. However there is a catch, our increasingly weak Lib/Con alliance government has said that each of these small component parts of the disunited Kingdom, will have the right to block any English desire to move to more acceptable times for the fifty five million living there.

Now you might think that a Scottish Government that wants to be at the 'Heart of Europe', and that is proposing a referendum on breaking away from Britain inside three years, would be keen on such a move. Especially as their leader Alex Salmon has gone on record saying that Scotland would be at the centre of Europe, and that England should be able to manage its own internal affairs, without interference from the Scottish, Northern Irish and Welsh regional governments .... hmm.

Scottish Farmers and friends,  "nervous" about the potential impact.

But no, with all the hypocrisy that only a bunch of nationalist rascals can muster, the Scottish government has said that its "established position" was that there was "no case for a change to existing arrangements". SNP MP Angus MacNeil said any change would have "massive implications for the safety and well being of everyone living north of Manchester" ... utter tosh.

I live in the North of England, and its dark when I get up even now, and inside a few days it will be dark when I get home as well ... I also lived in Edinburgh for over five years, and I would be getting up and coming home in the dark right now! So what gain me by the clocks going back, nothing. It should be noted that Russia has just decided not to put its clocks back, and although they accept that it means darker in the mornings, they think the compensation for this is the lighter afternoons and evenings.

So just for once will the hypocrites in the SNP, let England have its way, after all they can just keep the old times, and accentuate the differences between Scotland and England, which is surely want they really want?

Hypocrites To A Man And Woman

One tiny church says its going to burn a copy of the Quran ..... and as usual all we hear is "Death to Christians" chanted by the 'Religion of Peace' ..... hypocrites to a man, woman and child.

• When they blow up a Buddhist shrine ... silence over the Muslim world.
•  When they attack Christian Churches in Egypt, Malaya, Nigeria, Sudan, Iraq and Pakistan ... silence over the Muslim world.
• When they blow up Mosques (and Qurans) themselves in Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan ... silence over the Muslim world.
• When they shoot down Jews, or lob missiles across borders... silence over the Muslim world.

But when a 'infidel' does,well nothing in the end ..... Oh boy do they come out and threaten.

Then they say that it "threatens world peace" but also say that "By burning the Koran they cannot harm it" .... in which case why the fuss?

We are fools only to ourselves in tolerating this creeds threats ...... but the lick spittle's and apologists for the 'Religion of Peace'  continue to tell us that we should respect the 'sensitivities' of the followers of a regressive and backward religion, and not say or do anything to upset them, while they continue to create carnage and fear across much of the globe, well the parts stupid enough to tolerate this creeds activities.

Labour Leadership Attracts Strange Bedfellows

Diane Abbott wants to be Labour Leader - I guess she considers that she has all the required attributes:

• Hypocrisy: She's sent her son went to a *private school with mainly white teachers and pupils, while she tried to stop anyone else aka white middle-class parents doing the same.
• Media Friendly - she appears on a late night politics show with an ex-Tory MP and ex- Sunday Times editor, mostly having a pop at the then Labour Government.
• Left Whinger - A member of the Socialist Campaign Group. She espouses all the 'right on' policies of the left (but see Hypocrite).
• Absolute Party Loyalty - she has made personal attacks on a number of Labour Ministers and has seemingly not signed up to the idea of collective party/government responsibility.
• Strong Union Base - she was an Cambridge graduate, who has never worked with any mainstream unions .... a 'high flyer' in the Civil service, Race Relations Officer at the National Council for Civil Liberties from 1978 to 1980 (Amongst her colleagues at NCCL were Harriet Harman, Patricia Hewitt and Paul Boateng, all later becoming Labour Cabinet Ministers...... which tells you a lot about that organisation) and MP and the 'media' (ah hem).
• Economic Competence - Like all of the 'Left' she advocates spending everyone's money, even after its all gone (ala Gordon Brown), and of course
• No chance of ever winning a national election unless it was held solely in Peckham, Cheetham Hill, Moss Side and of course Hackney North and Stoke Newington ......
  

*Her decision to send her son to the private £10,000 a year City of London School, which she herself described as "indefensible" and "intellectually incoherent", caused controversy and was seen by many as hypocritical not least because she had previously criticised Tony Blair and Harriet Harman for sending their children to selective state schools.

It later emerged that Abbott had in fact applied to a total of three separate private schools for her son, and thus apparently had no intention of ever sending him to a state school. Fellow Hackney Labour MP Brian Sedgemore condemned Abbott for the "hurt and harm she had caused to local people in Hackney" who didn't have the means to make a similar choice, suggesting that Abbott would "never be taken seriously again".

Well we shall see .......
