The Lands That Time Forgot

There used to be a time when the countries of Central and South America were safe havens for escaping Nazi's such as Adolf Eichmann, and Otto Skorzeny (the Great Nazi War Hero) for example, set up a secret organization named Die Spinne which helped as many as 600 former SS men escape from Germany to Spain, Argentina, Paraguay, Chile, Bolivia, and other countries.

Communists such as Trotsky, would also use Central and South American countries as 'safe havens' .... he famously was killed by Stalin's assassins in Mexico City.

The other group that found safe havens in Central and South American countries, were the US and Italian Mafia such as Lucky Luciano, who used these countries as bases of operations when the US or Italian authorities were breathing too heavily on the back of their necks .... Cuba was effectively a Mafia state for a period just after the Second World War.

But now a different breed see South America, and Ecuador in particular, as the place of preference for claiming refugee status ...... now its alleged rapists such as Julian Assange or traitors such as Edward Snowden (who has also asked Ecuador for Asylum) who appear to be the main claimants to the dubious honour roll who have used Southern American states to escape justice.

A quick glance at Ecuador shows that this is not the Sweden of South America (which is probably a good thing as far as Mr Assange was concerned) .... in fact its a rather typical country for that region, with a history of corrupt weak civilian regimes, interspersed with a military junta (1972–79), and as recently as 2010 they declared a one-week state of emergency, which put the military in charge of public order and suspended civil liberties. It also has the usual South America habit of exploiting the the indigenous Indians human rights (which amounts to about 25% of the population) .... but, hey, that's par for the course.

So isn't it rather strange that these self styled champions of democratic freedom choose this rather socially backward state as the model 'state' to get to? ..... unless of course its the fact that it has no extradition treaties with most European countries and the US?

Rapist Escapes Justice (And It's Not The In UK)

Roman Polanski and admitted child rapist has escaped extradition to the US to be sentenced for photographing a thirteen year old girl while she was topless, before drugging, raping and sodomising her ..... I repeat, she was only thirteen years old.

What sort of people in Switzerland believe that this crime is something for which there should be no punishment? Would they like Polanski to do this to their thirteen year old daughters or grand daughters?

A Happy Rapist?

The reason for this extraordinary decision (which by the way, the US is not allowed to appeal), is as follows: "The reason for the decision lies in the fact that it was not possible to exclude with the necessary certainty a fault in the US extraditionary request." which is legalise crap for 'we don't like you or your open justice system, we don't care that he admitted to 'unlawful sex' (as a plea bargain to spare the child a court appearance), and we can't prove that there isn't some hidden flaw in your request, so we will assume that there is and throw it out'.

Absolutely shameful and on a par with some third world nations idea of justice.

If I was the US president I would make Switzerland wince for this decision by blocking their banks etc from access to the US systems, and restricting Swiss travel to the US ..... maybe that would make them consider again ..... but no doubt the US will do nothing and Polanski will go to his grave untroubled by his crimes.

Polanski Still Wiggling

The admitted child rapist Roman Polanski is still trying to avoid paying any sort of penalty for the drugging, raping and buggery of a thirteen year old girl. His latest ploy is to ask for the judge in Los Angeles to sentence him in absentia over the rape in 1977.

Prosecutor David Walgren said Polanski should not be able to fight the case "from the comfort of his Swiss chalet in the Alps", and that a fugitive should not "dictate the court's processes".... but that is exactly what is likely to happen.

Army Rapist Of Guinea

This report on the government sanctioned raping in the street of women pro-democracy protesters in Guinea, is possibly the most disturbing account of how close most African societies are to tribal barbarism. This despite a veneer of 50 yrs of 'independence' and self rule.

I won't attempt to paraphrase the women's accounts of the attacks, which are harrowing in the extreme, but sadly these sorts of event occur with depressing regularity in Sub Saharan Africa.

Western politicians barely remark on it.

Roman Justice?

The arrest of an admitted child abuser is normally a reason to be be pleased that the judicial system works occasionally.

 

However when the admitted child abuser is one Roman Polanski ahh, then the high and mighty think it's disgraceful that one of theirs is being held in prison.

Right from Wrong

This story hardly needs comment, but following the news that a quarter of all native South African males are admitted rapists, then maybe its no surprise to find that some Liberian immigrants to the US can act as badly, even though they are only aged nine to fourteen, and that four boys have been charged with the gang rape of an eight-year-old Liberian girl.

The girls parents have "disowned" her, for "shaming them" ........... they should be sent back to Liberia (although they probably wouldn't want them).

South African Rapists

The release of a poll of South African males, shows that one in four are admitted rapists, and that one in eight are serial rapists. They are not apologetic about it.

These figures are simply appalling, and in a civilised world would cause shock waves in the South African tourist industry, and demands that any society that could act this way be ostracised until it was reformed.

However as its "The Rainbow Nation" this complete collapse of civil behaviour is ignored, downplayed, or apologised away by all the foreign ministers, despite the imminence of the world cup next year. I wonder if this wilful downplaying, of the risks of sending their citizens to what is virtually a war zone (with 22,000 murders every year, rape apparently a national sport, and even visiting sports teams getting robbed, how else would you describe it?), are not actually in criminal neglect of their duty of care?

South Africa has fallen a long way in the last decade or so, and any PC apologists for a nation of rapists are welcome to debate this opinion with me.

The Faces of Modern Britain Part ll

Three boys, I hesitate to call these animals young men, Rogel McMorris, Jason Brew and Hector Muaimba were convicted of rape and given sentences of nine years and six years for a vicious gang rape of a girl with a mental age of eight, culminating in throwing acid over the victim.

A judge decided that despite the horror of the attack, these soft sentences were sufficient to send out a message to teen gang animals. Disability charities however disagreed and said that the sentences were unduly lenient and sent out the "wrong message". The girls views are not known as she is still in a coma after the attack.

The Crown Prosecution Service is appealing the sentences but no one really expects more than a year or so to be added to the sentences in case the scum get a case under the ever reliable Human Rights Act, that did nothing for the victim, but which will protect these scumbags from unduly 'harsh' sentences.
