A Dutch man, Emile Ratelband who is aged 69, has applied to get his age changed to 49. His reasoning is that "You can change your name. You can change your gender. Why not your age?" ..... Why not indeed? Logically this sort of Western nonsense is where we were heading.
Once men with penises could claim to be women, all was lost. Mr Ratelband claims that his reasons for this change are "When I'm 69, I am limited. If I'm 49, then I can buy a new house, drive a different car. I can take up more work," but in reality he is something of a Dutch B list celebrity and has work.
The real reason is sex. "When I'm on Tinder (the sex dating app), and it say I'm 69, I don't get an answer. When I'm 49, with the face I have, I will be in a luxurious position."
So not a shy man then. He even told reporters that according to his doctors he has the body of a 45-year-old, and described himself as a "young god". However ultimately he just wants women entering into relationships with him not knowing that he's got one foot in the grave.
Dutch law experts say he's likely not to win the right under Dutch laws, especially after one of the judges asked the pertinent question about the 20 years to be erased "Who were your parents looking after then? Who was that little boy?" ....
.... But cynics say that getting his picture in the world's press will do wonders for his dating chances, to say nothing of the boost to his career as a media personality and motivational speaker. He is also a trainer in neurolinguistic programming, and does film voice overs (he voiced the character Vladimir Trunkov in the Dutch-language version of the Pixar film Cars 2).
No doubt one of the Dutch version celebrity TV shows will cast him in their next season. So all to thegod, err, good then.
Update: Emile Ratelband has been told by the Dutch Courts that he can't remove 20 years off his age. But the judges said he could 'act 49 if he feels like it'.

"Time and tide wait for no man..." Perhaps Emile Ratelband should first declare himself a woman to clear that first hurdle. If he does she will be a very old 49 instead of a young 69.
ReplyDeleteSadly in the UK he would be successful in that first demand, and as a woman would be free to lie about her age. However as you so succinctly point out, she would then be a very old 49 instead of a young 69.

Is it permitted to ask why you suddenly stopped doing them? I have found them informative and often provoking of interesting replies.
I checked your profile thinking that you might have started your own blog, or started following another blog, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Your obviously right about the nature of sex identity issues as Ms Creasy's recent dumb statement has highlighted.
DeleteAs for the reasons Vroomfondel stopped commenting, well I wondered about that myself, but I'm sure he had his own good reasons. I agree though that he added to the posts with his observations. Not sure if he still reads the blog these days, so he may not realise that you have asked about him.
