| The Heart Of Africa Faces A New Darkness |
.... but, in reality the true hearts of darkness on that continent are wherever the Jihadi terrorists are operating.
A recent news story, that barely made a couple of column inches illustrates where the true darkness lies ...
In Nigeria, the jihadist group Boko Haram, and its splinter faction cover group known as Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), have both been largely indiscriminately killing people for over a
decade, often in the barbaric manner favoured by Jihadist groups over both Africa and the Middle East .... beheading by slitting the victims throat.
Both groups care little about who they kill, although they have fondness for targetting bars (presumably as anyone in them is not a Muslim, or at least not a good one) .... for instance ISWAP set off an explosion in a bar in Taraba State in North Eastern Nigeria on the 19th of April 2022, in which several people were killed, and more than a dozen were wounded.
Its a sad commentary on what Jihadist Islam always deteriorates in to, that any atrocity in the Western African states where these groups operate, can easily be attributed to either group, and it wouldn't unreasonable, as they are both as violent as each other. They even attack each other as heretics (Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau even killed himself in battle with ISWAP in 2021 - He was actually considered "too extreme even by the Islamic State's standards"), such is the violence that the creeds instil in their followers.

The latest atrocity was in Geidam town, Yobe State, Nigeria on the 20th of April 2022, when suspected Boko Haram militants killed one man, and then burnt down several buildings at a college, before heading to a local bar where they killed at least nine people. It was reported that some of the victims, including women, were shot dead, while others (including a retired police officer), had their hands were tied behind their backs and their throats slit.
