A world record price for a motorcycle sold at an auction was reached ......
.....when a 1951 Vincent Black Lightning reached £650,000 ($929,000) in an auction at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
One of just 30 Black Lightnings made, the completely original and unrestored Vincent set an Australian speed record in 1953, when Jack Ehret rode it to an average speed of 141.5 mph. The new record, surpasses the $825,500 paid for the ex-Steve McQueen 1915 Cyclone Board Track Racer set in March 2015.
Artificial Idiot
As Artificial Intelligence algorithms are increasingly used to handle tasks that humans once did, the chances for it going awry are increasing as well. Facebook monitors some speech (although not apparently Jihadist propaganda), on its posts, and recently blocked a UK couple on a romantic break, when their post offended one of its AI language monitors.
The couple, Mr Gordon Fong and his wife Angela Hang, were on a break in Combe, Devon, England and tried to post some pictures while they staying at The Pig Hotel ... it appears that the Facebook AI took the words 'Hang' and 'The Pig' at their face value, and blocked the post.
I personally have a Google Home in the living room, a nice but surprise present. It responds to "Hey Google" .... which is OK, although it would be better if Google allowed this to be personalised. However it doesn't care who gives the command, so recently I have found it coming to life when a Google TV advert comes on - or even randomly when a keyword command is uttered on the TV in another context.
What's doubly irritating is that seems to cause my Android 'smart-phone' to respond as well. This also happens when I request Google Home to play music (when it was free) or put a radio station on. Do Google give a crap .... nope, that's why you can't personalise the commands.

Moderation is on for older posts to stop spamming and comments that are off topic or inappropriate from being posted .... comments are reviewed within 48 hours. I don't block normal comments that are on topic and not inappropriate. Vexatious comments that may cause upset to other commentators, or that are attempting to espouse a particular wider political view, are reviewed before acceptance. But a certain amount of debate around a post topic is accepted, as long as it remains generally on topic and is not an attempt to become sounding board for some other cause.
Final decision on all comments is held by the blog author and is final.
