Iran's ever more convoluted censorship laws ....
Spoof Iranian Censorship .. Actually, They Don't Even Show Women's Athletic Events. |
..... mean that physical contact between men and women is not permitted on TV screens in Iran.
Censors
are also said to be required to remove men and women exchanging "tender words or jokes", unveiled women, close-ups of women's faces and exposed necklines, as well as any negative portrayals of police and bearded men.
I tried to think what would be left in any movie once you had made all those cuts? I mean No 'unveiled women, close-ups of women's faces and exposed
necklines' .... that's pretty well all scenes with non Muslim women in them. Then even if any women survived this, then No "tender
words or jokes", between men and women .... well that kills off all Rom/Coms .... so not all bad then.
False Beard - Real Female Football Fan Wears Beard To Watch Iran Play Football |
But as a good example of how stupid this can really get ..... In April 2019 a state controlled TV channel was due to show the English Premier League soccer match between Tottenham and Manchester United, at which one of the officials was a woman.
Too Much Knee and Hair For The Mullahs? |
Now normally they just cancel the broadcasts (as they had done for a Bayern Munich and Augsburg game, when it was known it was a female referee), but this time they didn't realise it was a woman official, so the broadcast went ahead, but the broadcasters censored over 100 broadcast shots of the female official ..... they would pan out of the stadium and showed views of London’s backstreets, much to bemusement of the viewers.
The censorship was so crude, that at the end of the game, one of the commentators joked that he hoped the viewers enjoyed the geographic show. Oh and by the way, you have to laugh that negative portrayals of the police and
bearded men are also banned .... you can hardly believe that a system
like this is allowed to exist by its population .... but even accepting that the current unrest in this socially skewed country, indicate that the population in increasingly unhappy under the mad mullahs rule .... the fact is that the regime doesn't look like changing its policies anytime soon.

Moderation is on for older posts to stop spamming and comments that are off topic or inappropriate from being posted .... comments are reviewed within 48 hours. Vexatious comments that may cause upset to other commentators, or that are attempting to espouse a particular wider political view, are reviewed before acceptance. But a certain amount of debate around a post topic is accepted, as long as it remains generally on topic and is not an attempt to become sounding board for some other cause.
