The Axis of evil is exposed again at the United Nations, with just 4 countries backing Russia in a UN vote on Russia's attempt to land grab by military force the eastern Ukrainian regions of Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson, and declare them integral parts of Russia.

The evil 4 were Belarus, North Korea, Syria and Nicaragua ... everyone a democratic paradise ... NOT!
However, apart from the usual suspects, another 35 states - including China, Cuba, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Thailand - abstained. What sort of position is that? I mean either you believe that a foreign military could invade your lands and annexe parts of it, declaring it an integral part of their own, or not.

After all in the nearly recent past, China has annexed land from India, but abstaining India objected to that, but is not objecting to Russia doing the same in the Ukraine ..... you have to assume that India sees cheap Russian oil and possible Russian support against future Chinese aggression, or even Pakistan in Kashmir, as worth turning a blind eye to Russian aggression for. Similarly Pakistan has a long military purchase relationship with both China and Russia, and doesn't want to antagonise Russia over this issue.
Interestingly, it looks from the abstaining list that China's growing influence in Sub-Saharan African countries, is evident in the number of those states abstaining. Cheap Russian oil decided the rest of the abstainers .... maybe a foretaste of things to come.
